The Clans of Nines

Discovery

Silver quickly lowered himself to the ground so Eve could climb on. 

  "Hurry. I'm going to outrun them, and if necessary, fight." 

  Once Eve had climbed on, Silver raced into the forest, spewing a Flamethrower back at the Ninetales to occupy them. 

    "Get them!" 

   Silver turned back just in time to see a Ninetales send a Hyper Beam right at them. 

  "Whoa!" Silver stumbled over a tree root as he veered off to dodge the Hyper Beam that left burn marks on a tree. 

  A Shadow Ball skimmed his ear, exploding in a boulder. 

       "I can't run! I gotta attack!" Silver yelled. He turned, using Extreme Speed to bowl into a Ninetales. 

  A Dark Pulse caught him by surprise in the chest, knocking him backwards. 

  "Ngh!" 

  "Oh, I'm not letting this happen!" Silver turned to see Eve fire up a Dark Pulse that collided with a Ninetales. 

        Silver shot a Hyper Beam at a Shadow Ball aimed at Eve to protect her. 

    "Knock them out!" Eve shouted. Three were already down: only four more to go. 

   The four remaining Ninetales banded together to create a quadruple Hyper Beam. 

             Silver blasted a Dragon Pulse at the attack, hoping to nullify it with his newfound strength and abilities. 

   Smoke engulfed them, with Silver's keen sense of smell barely able to detect their presences due to the heavy smoke. 

  "Gah!" Silver was blasted off his feet by an unseen Fire Blast. 

     "Silver!" Eve darted to his side, only to be sent spinning into a bush from a Fire Spin. 

   "Traitor. Eve," One of the Ninetales spat, holding her by the scruff of her neck. 

 "Let her go!" Silver spat, struggling as the other three Ninetales restrained him. 

  "Quiet, you killer!" A Ninetales shouted. 

  Silver bit one of them with a Thunder Fang, knocking them out due to paralysis. 

      Eve frantically struggled, blasting her attacker with a Flamethrower to the face. 

 The Ninetales staggered backwards, shocked as Eve used Quick Attack to bounce into Silver's attackers, knocking them off him. 

  Silver used Extreme Speed, moving at a high speed to knock out another Ninetales. 

    "Let's move!" 

 Silver grabbed Eve, flinging her onto his back before rushing away. 

    Eve began rapidly firing attacks backwards to provide at least a little cover for Silver's back. 

      Hours quickly passed, with no sign of their pursuers. 

 "I think we finally lost them," Eve said. Silver allowed himself to slow down a tiny bit. "What happened? How did they find us?" Silver asked. 

    Eve's cheeks grew hot with embarrassment. "They suspected something, so they tailed me. I washed to throw off my scent, but even so, they still found me. It just took a little extra time." 

      She expected Silver to be angry, to be upset with her, but instead he was calm and collected. 

  "We're going to have to sneak into the library, aren't we?" Silver asked.
