Y/N's P.O.V.

As the day progressed, I felt the weight of Alastor's gaze bearing down on me like a heavy fog. No matter where I turned, he seemed to be lurking in the background, his presence a constant reminder that I was not entirely free. I attempted to dive into tasks that would keep me busy-organizing supplies, tidying up common areas-but somehow, he was always there, watching me with that infuriatingly calm smile.

I caught him in the corner of my eye as I turned to grab a broom. Great, I thought, irritation bubbling just beneath my skin. He's at it again. It was as if he were waiting for me to slip up, to engage him in conversation, and I was determined to avoid it.

"Y/n! You're doing a marvelous job with that broom!" he called out, his voice dripping with that smooth charm. I rolled my eyes but kept my back turned, pretending to focus intently on the dust I was sweeping up.

"Thanks," I muttered, trying to sound casual, but inside I was screaming. Did he really have to comment on everything? It was exhausting. The way he hovered around felt unnervingly possessive, like I was some prized possession he was determined to keep close.

"Are you avoiding me?" Alastor asked, his tone light yet edged with something darker. I glanced over my shoulder, finding him leaning casually against the wall, arms crossed, that infuriating smirk on his face. He looked like a predator, and I was the prey.

"No, I'm just... busy," I replied, my voice strained. I turned back to my sweeping, wishing the floor would swallow me up. It wasn't that I didn't find him interesting-he was magnetic in a way that drew you in-but I didn't want to be trapped in whatever game he was playing.

"Oh, I see. Just cleaning?" His voice was smooth, teasing, and it made my skin crawl. Why did he have to sound so pleased?

"Yep! Cleaning," I said, forcing a chirpy tone that I hoped would put him off. I couldn't let him see how frustrated I was. "Very important work here." I tried to sound serious, but I could feel the tension radiating off him, like he was just waiting for the right moment to pounce.

He stepped closer, a predator drawn to my feigned indifference. "You know, Y/n, there's no need to work so hard. I'm perfectly capable of helping you... if you'd let me."

The way he said it sent a chill down my spine, and I felt a surge of annoyance. I quickly straightened up, trying to regain my composure. "I'm good, really. I can handle this on my own," I replied, a bit too sharply.

"Ah, but it's much more fun to work together, don't you think?" He was practically glowing with enthusiasm, and it was driving me insane. The last thing I wanted was for him to latch onto me in that way.

"Look, Alastor, I appreciate the offer, but I really need to finish this task," I said, a hint of desperation creeping into my voice. I could feel the walls closing in around me as he continued to inch closer.

He tilted his head, that infuriating smile never wavering. "But I'm so entertaining! How could you possibly resist?" His eyes sparkled with mischief, and I could tell he was enjoying this way too much.

Why does he have to be like this? I thought, my annoyance growing by the second. He was like a shadow, always lurking just behind me, always ready to pounce with that charming banter.

"Because I'm trying to avoid being distracted!" I snapped, finally turning to face him, hands on my hips. The sudden confrontation made him raise an eyebrow, his smile faltering for a brief moment.

"Oh, but that's the beauty of it! The distraction is part of the experience," he replied, the playful tone returning to his voice as he took a step closer. I could practically feel the heat radiating off him, and it made me want to step back, but I held my ground.
