Y/N P.O.V.

Making our way downstairs, Charlie had me wait up at the top before I heard her a few minutes down below.
"Vaggie! Just hear me out! You'll really like her! She even offered to help!" Charlie urged, rubbing her forehead in frustration.

"Charlie, hun... if it means that much to you, I'll meet her," Vaggie replied, her tone a mix of exasperation and resignation.

Just then, I felt a whisper brush against my ear. I whipped around and instinctively punched the source straight in the face.

"Ouch! You-!" The spider demon staggered back, a mix of surprise and annoyance on their face.

I raised an eyebrow, trying to determine whether they were male or female. "Angel Dust!" Charlie exclaimed, rushing over to help them up.

"I'm sorry!" I added, extending a hand to assist.

"Why did you do that?" the spider demon asked, rubbing their jaw.

"You scared me," I admitted, glancing away as my ears flattened against my head.

"Oh, uh, I'm sorry for scaring you," Angel said, holding out a hand. "I'm Angel Dust!"

I shook their hand and offered a slight smile. "I'm Y/n L/n. It's a pleasure to meet you. Quick question-are you male or female?"

Charlie's mouth dropped open in shock at my bluntness.

"I'm a guy, darlin'," Angel replied with a playful smirk.

"So you're a... spider as well?" I asked, releasing his hand.

Angel chuckled and nodded, a mischievous glint in his eyes.

"Hi, I'm Vaggie," she said, extending her hand. I shook it, returning her smile.

"Y/n," I said, my confidence growing.

Charlie clasped her hands together, beaming with excitement. "Let's get started with the day!"

Just then, I heard the faint sound of static, and I turned to see the deer demon from last night.

"Alastor," Vaggie growled, her expression darkening.

I raised an eyebrow at her reaction, intrigued. I decided to play innocent. "Who are you, sir?" I asked, tilting my head slightly and flattening my ears in a show of feigned curiosity.

For a moment, shock crossed Alastor's face before he recovered, his grin widening. "Alastor, at your service, my dear. Quite a pleasure," he said, emphasizing "dear" in a way that felt loaded with meaning.

I extended my hand with a small smile. He took it, but instead of a handshake, he kissed my knuckles, never breaking eye contact. Heat rushed to my cheeks as he dropped my hand, chuckling softly.

Oh, this was going to be entertaining, I thought sarcastically, already anticipating the twists and turns of my new reality.

Alastor's P.O.V.

As soon as I released her hand, I could see the flicker of uncertainty in her eyes. Ah, I do so enjoy that look-it's always so... telling. Most people are too transparent, too easy to predict. But this one? She was playing along. Feigned curiosity? Oh, darling, you've just become far more interesting.

Straightening up, I gave a playful flourish with my cane, my grin never wavering. Vaggie's glare could burn a hole through my skull, but I found her anger more amusing than concerning. Poor thing was so protective over her precious Charlie, and now this new addition to the fold. Hmm, Y/n, was it? Yes, she was indeed intriguing.

"So, Y/n," I drawled, relishing the taste of her name as I said it, "what brings you to this charming little establishment?" My voice was coated in sugary sweetness, but the undertone was sharp, probing.

She blinked at me, her ears still slightly flattened, clearly trying to decide how to respond. Ah, a bit of hesitation-delicious. She was trying to stay composed, likely aware that I was testing her.

Charlie, bless her naive soul, stepped forward before Y/n could answer. "She's here to help, Alastor! Isn't it wonderful? We're building such a great team, all working together for the same goal!"

I barely spared Charlie a glance, keeping my focus on Y/n, gauging her reaction to Charlie's overly optimistic introduction. I already knew Charlie's goals were foolish, but the real question was... did Y/n know that? And if she did, what was her game?

"Helping?" I repeated, feigning ignorance, my smile sharpening just a touch. "How noble. Tell me, dear, do you believe in this little rehabilitation project?" I punctuated the word with an almost imperceptible sneer, hoping to prod at her intentions.

Her eyes narrowed, just slightly, but she maintained her composure. Clever girl. "I think it's worth a try," she said, her tone even. "Though I'm not naive enough to think it'll be easy."

Oh? I liked that answer. There was a bite beneath her politeness. She wasn't fully convinced, but she wasn't dismissing it either. A realist, perhaps? Or someone playing her cards close to her chest?

"Well, I do hope you enjoy your time here," I said smoothly, tilting my head as I let my grin stretch wider. "Things are bound to get... entertaining, wouldn't you agree?"

I could see her eyes flicker again, but this time there was something else behind them-curiosity, maybe? Or was it wariness? Either way, it would be fun to see where this went.

Vaggie, ever the killjoy, stepped closer, inserting herself between us as if she could physically block my influence. "That's enough, Alastor," she snapped, her voice like ice.

I chuckled, backing off with a theatrical bow. "Of course, of course. Wouldn't want to overstep on such a fine morning. But," I glanced once more at Y/n, "I do look forward to seeing what you bring to the table, my dear."

And with that, I turned on my heel, the static buzzing in the background as I made my exit. Oh yes, this was going to be very entertaining indeed.
