Zoe's POV:
Nora and I had been roommates since the start of the semester, and we got along really well. Our dorm room felt cozy, and we enjoyed spending time together. Nora was always cheerful and full of energy, which balanced out my own outgoing nature perfectly.
Meeting Anna:
One day, while Nora was away visiting her family, I heard a knock on the door. I opened it to find a girl standing there with striking blue eyes and jet-black hair. She looked beautiful but serious.
"Hi, I'm Anna," she said softly.
I smiled and replied, "Hey, I'm Zoe! You must be our new roommate."
Anna looked around the room briefly before giving a small nod. She seemed a little shy or maybe just reserved.
As we talked, I found out that Anna was a transfer student who had just joined our class halfway through the semester. She didn't share much about herself, but I figured she might just need time to open up.
The First Day in Class:
The next day, we went to class together. Our professor, Professor Lee, greeted Anna warmly.
"Anna, you can take the empty seat next to Zoe," he said with a welcoming smile.
I turned to Anna and smiled. "Looks like we're sitting together now."
Anna gave a small nod, but she didn't say much. I could tell she wasn't one to talk a lot, but I wanted to get to know her better.
As we sat down, I leaned over and asked, "So, why did you transfer here?"
"Just a transfer student," she said quietly, not offering any more details.
I could feel that she had a wall up, but I was determined to try and befriend her.
Nora's Return:
Later that day, Nora came back from her trip, bursting into the room full of energy, as usual.
"Hey, girls! I missed you, Zoe!" she shouted, her excitement filling the room.
Then she noticed Anna standing there. "Oh, and you are...?"
"This is Anna, our new roommate," I said, introducing them.
Nora's smile grew even wider. "That's awesome! Welcome to our little family, Anna."
Anna gave a polite smile in return but didn't say much.
Getting to Know Anna:
As the days passed, I kept trying to talk to Anna, but she mostly stayed quiet, always reading or working on something. It was hard to get her to open up. Still, I noticed something interesting during our classes.
Anna was incredibly smart. She answered the hardest questions with ease, and her assignments were always perfect. It didn't take long for our professor, Professor Lee, to start praising her regularly.
"Anna, your work is outstanding. You're setting a high bar for the rest of the class," he said one day.
When the class rankings were posted, Anna was at the top of the list. Nora and I looked at each other in surprise, totally impressed.
"Wow, Anna, you're a genius!" Nora said, her voice full of admiration.
For the first time, I saw Anna's expression soften just a bit. Her eyes sparkled with pride, but she stayed humble, not boasting about her achievement.
Despite how smart she was, Anna never acted like she was better than anyone. She stayed quiet, keeping to herself most of the time. But I couldn't help feeling that there was more to her than just being the smartest person in class. I wanted to learn more about who Anna really was.
