Chapter 1: College Beginnings
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────

Harin's POV

The morning sunlight filtered through the tall windows of the university courtyard, casting a warm glow over the campus. I stood by the entrance of the Humanities building, waiting for Taehyung. As always, he was running late, his usual carefree nature making him a few minutes behind schedule, but I didn’t mind. In fact, I found it endearing.

“Sorry, Harin, I’m late again,” Taehyung said with a sheepish grin as he jogged up to me, his hand already reaching for mine. His fingers laced through mine effortlessly, like they belonged there. “But I brought your favorite coffee,” he added, holding out a steaming cup with his free hand.

I laughed, shaking my head at his attempt to make up for his tardiness. “You know I can’t stay mad at you,” I teased, taking the cup and leaning in to kiss his cheek. “You’re lucky you’re cute.”

Taehyung’s eyes sparkled as he grinned. “I’ll take that as a compliment.”

We stood there for a moment, wrapped in the warmth of our familiar morning routine. His presence always had this way of making everything feel right, even the most mundane parts of the day.

“Taehyung! There you are, man!” Jimin’s voice broke through the peaceful quiet, and we both turned to see my brother jogging toward us. His blonde hair was messy from what I guessed was a failed attempt at fixing it this morning.

“Oh......hey! Jimin” Taehyung greeted him with a nod and a smile, as Jimin came to a stop beside us, slightly out of breath.

“Yah, you two lovebirds look so cute together, but we have class, Taehyung,” Jimin said, his eyes darting between us with a knowing smirk. “Come on, we’re going to be late.”

Taehyung sighed dramatically but couldn’t hide his amusement. He glanced back at me, his expression softening. “I’ll see you after class?”

I nodded. “Of course. Don’t let Jimin oppa make you late,” I teased, giving Jimin a playful look.

Jimin rolled his eyes. “I’m not the one who’s always late!”

Taehyung chuckled and gave my hand a gentle squeeze before letting go. “See you soon, Harin.”

“Bye, Taehyung. Bye, oppa,” I said, watching as the two boys headed off toward their building. I couldn’t help but smile as I watched them walk away, their playful banter echoing down the hallway.

As I stood there, sipping my coffee, I let myself revel in the quiet happiness that filled my heart. My name is Park Harin, and I’m a sophomore at Seoul University, studying Creative Writing. To most people, I’m known as Park Jimin’s little sister, but to me, I’m just Harin, a girl who fell in love with her brother’s best friend.

It hadn’t always been like this. I had known Taehyung for years—he and my brother had been inseparable since high school. Back then, he was just Jimin’s quirky friend who always seemed to have a camera in his hand, documenting everything with that broad, boxy smile of his. But somewhere between high school and college, things changed.

I don’t even remember the exact moment it happened. Maybe it was during one of those late-night study sessions when Taehyung would drop by our house with Jimin, bringing snacks and laughter that filled our home. Or maybe it was when he started looking at me differently—his gaze lingering just a second longer than before. But it wasn’t until we both started attending the same university that our paths truly crossed.

One day, after running into each other on campus far too many times to be a coincidence, Taehyung asked me to grab coffee with him. That’s when everything shifted. We talked for hours, losing track of time as we bonded over our shared love for art, music, and the quiet moments that often went unnoticed by the world. And from that day on, it was as if we couldn’t be without each other and that's how we started dating.
