The kids are at school when they meet up by their lockers Evelyn:hey Jack Jack:hey Ev Evelyn:i so don't want to take that test today Jack:me either wanna ditch class Evelyn:are you crazy if our parents find out we are so grounded forever Jack:i have done it a couple times i haven't got caught Evelyn:i don't know Jack Jack:please it will be fun Evelyn:ok fine but just this once Jack:great follow me Evelyn:where are we going Jack:to hide until the halls are clear Evelyn:where Jack:under the stairs the little door They go and slip into the small room without anyone seeing them or so they thought the kid who tells on everyone all the time saw and told a teacher who called the principal 15 minutes later they were caught P:Jack Evelyn come with me Both:yes mam They follow their principal into her office and sat down P:alright well im gonna have to call your parents She tried calling Lucy first but she didn't answer P:guess ill call dad Evelyn knew she would of rather had her mom there over her dad who has no problem setting her and her siblings straight infront of everyone He answers Tim:Bradford P:hi this is the principal from mid-wilshire middle school is this Evelyns dad Tim:i am is something wrong P:she and a friend got into some trouble together we just need a parent down here Tim:ok my wife is busy but ill be there in 10 minutes P:awesome She hung up P:now for Jack She calls Angela A:hello P:hi is this Jacks mother A:i am who is this P:im the principal at Mid-wilshire middle school Jack seems to have found himself in some trouble with a friend could you come down here and talk A:on my way Then started the waiting period they were placed in the front office to wait for their parents Tim shows up first he sees Evelyn and Jack sitting there and go over to them Tim:im assuming you two did something stupid together Neither one looked up at him Angela walked in and saw Tim Evelyn and Jack Angela:wait your both in trouble Tim:they don't want to talk Angela:Jack Evers Jack looked up at his mom Angela:you better answer your uncle Tim Tim:what did yall do Evelyn looked over at Jack then spoke E:we skipped class and got caught Tim looked at his daughter not believing that she got in trouble she's usually his good child Jack saw the way he was looking at her and spoke up Jack:don't punish her Uncle Tim it was my idea i talked her into it this is my fault Tim:as sweet as that is Jack she made the choice to go along her actions have consequences Angela:and as for you we have talked about this more then once have we not Jack:we have Angela:and yet you still do it Jack:im sorry mom The principal pulled them back into the office the kids got their consequences and were sent home for the rest of the day they both ended up having to sit at the station the rest of the day in Tims office On the way to the station Evelyn looked over at her dad who was quiet she knows he must be really disappointed or angry because usually he lectures her about what ever it was she did Evelyn:im sorry dad Tim:mhm Evelyn:are you gonna tell mom Tim:no you are when we get to the station Evelyn:I don't know i would rather have you tell her Tim:nope The rest of the ride was silent Angela and Tim both walking in with the kids Lucy:hey why aren't they in school Tim:tell your mom Evelyn:Jack and i decided to skip class and got caught Lucy:are you crazy Evelyn:im really sorry mom Lucy:we will talk about this when we get home for now your gonna sit in your dads office and no phone Evelyn:yes mam Angela:you too Jack go with her Jack:ok They both walk to Tims office and go in Evelyn sits on the floor and brings her knees to her chest and lays her head down she was really upset about disappointing her parent

How shes sitting Jack:Ev She doesn't answer or look up Jack goes and sits next to her Jack:im really sorry Evelyn E:its ok Jack im not mad at you Jack:you don't like disappointing your parents do you E:no She lifted her head and laid it on Jacks shoulder E:thank you for trying to keep me out of trouble with my dad J:of course its my fault I shouldn't of talked you into skipping im sorry E:its ok J:love you Ev E:love you too Jack They just sit together doing homework and talking through the day by the end of the day Evelyn had fallen asleep on the couch in her dads office Jack knew he kept a blanket for when one of them or Lucy were there so he grabbed it and put it over her Tim saw this from the window and smiled he loves the close bond Evelyn and Jack share they have been inseparable from the beginning Tim:hey Jack Jack:hey uncle Tim Tim:you really love her don't you Jack:she's like my sister Tim:the way you tried to protect her that was really nice of you Jack:i always protect her or try to truth is she doesn't need it honestly she can definitely stick up for her self she's a little feisty Tim laughed Tim:just like her mom Jack:go easy on her uncle Tim she doesn't like disappointing you guys Tim looked at Jack and saw the worried look in his face Tim:its her first time getting in trouble so she's not in much trouble Jack smiled up at him Angela:come on Jack They left and Tim woke Evelyn up Tim:Ev E:hmm Tim:come on its time to go home E:ok She got up and they walked to the truck Lucy there waiting they all got in and Evelyn stayed quiet just watching out the window Tim kept glancing back at her he knows how she gets when she feels she disappointed him and Lucy and he hated when she got that way they got home and she went to put her stuff in her room and get out of her school clothes Lucy:what are you thinking about Tim:is it wrong i just want to give her a slap on the wrist and move on Lucy:no but you also know thats not how kids learn Tim:i don't know i think she feels horrible about it as it is i feel like we don't need to add on Lucy:if thats what you think is best then i support that decision Tim:we can take her allowance away for a week Lucy:that seems fair Tim:ok ill tell her He walked to her room and knocked E:come in She was sitting on her bed she knew they would come to her when they were ready E:dad before you start im sorry Tim:i know sweetheart look your mom and i talked and it seems your feeling bad about it as is so we decided to give you a slap on the wrist this time no allowance for a week E:ok thats fair Tim:ok She scooted into him E:I don't like disappointing you Tim:i know baby but know im only disappointed im stuff like this not in you because im proud of you everyday E:thanks dad Tim:of course baby
