Ruhi’s POV:
I had been at Yash Uncle’s house for quite some time now. Uncle kept telling me stories about him and Dadu, recounting all their daily escapades from years ago. I couldn’t stop laughing as he shared a particularly funny incident about my Dadu. We were lost in the joy of reminiscing until I noticed the arrogant man in the room.
Quickly composing myself, I smiled politely and said, “Uncle, I had a really great time, but now I have to go to the market with Dadu.”
“Oh, okay, dear. But come back whenever you’re free. I’ve got more stories to share!” Yash Uncle smiled warmly and patted my head.
“Of course, Uncle. You’re welcome to visit our house too. I’m sure Dadu and Dadi would love to see you,” I said, standing up.
He nodded, smiling. I gave a quick glance toward Arjun, who was still engrossed in his phone, showing no courtesy at all. How rude! Uncle noticed too and gave him a stern look, but Arjun remained glued to his screen. It was amusing to see his indifference toward his elders, but that’s typical of someone so arrogant.
As I was leaving, I heard Uncle call out, "Arjun!" It seemed like Uncle was about to scold him, and I had to suppress a giggle. He deserves every bit of that. Still, I left with Dadu for the market, though I couldn’t help but wish I could have stayed to witness Arjun being reprimanded.
In the market, Dadu showed me the ropes of buying household goods, explaining every little detail with so much enthusiasm. I smiled, nodding along.
“Ruhi, do you know when Krisha is coming? Ritika and Rahil are arriving tomorrow, and Krishu said she’d be here too, but she didn’t mention the time. Could you check with her?” Dadu asked, his eyes twinkling.
I gave him a tight smile and nodded, not saying much. After we finished our shopping, we headed home.
As soon as I stepped through the door, I was shocked to see Arjun sitting comfortably with Dadi, laughing. My Dadi was patting his shoulder, and they were deep in conversation, sharing a hearty laugh. *What is happening here?* My mind raced.
“Why did you stop, beta?” Dadu asked, confused by my expression.
“Nothing, Dadu.” I quickly placed the bags on the dining table and tried to shake off the sight of Arjun laughing with my grandmother. Since when did he become this friendly?
“Oh, you’re back! I didn’t notice,” Dadi said as I joined them in the hall.
“Well, you were too engrossed in your conversation,” I remarked casually, eyeing Arjun, who, unsurprisingly, rolled his eyes. This man is insufferable.
I sat down near Dadu, stealing glances at Arjun as he continued talking with Dadi. I noticed how his hazel eyes sparkled when he smiled, and the dimples that appeared on his cheeks... but no, behind that charm was the same arrogant man who had irritated me all day. Ugh!
Dadi, being kind as she is, doesn't know what kind of man he is or what his mindset is like. He accused me of following him without knowing anything, but I didn't say anything because of Uncle. How could he think that I would follow him? He's mentally ill. Yes, now it makes sense.
"He has a very good relationship with your dadi. Look how they are talking. He doesn't talk this much with everyone," Dadu said.
I raised an eyebrow. “Yeah, at Uncle’s place, he barely spoke. But when he did, it was only to be arrogant.” Dadu burst into laughter at my words.
"If you both are done, then look at us. We are also here," Dadu said in a mocking tone. Dadi and Arjun looked at us.
"Sorry, Grandpa. I was so engrossed in talking with Granny," he said and smirked at me. I rolled my eyes as he repeated my sentence.
