ELYSSE'S POV

Elysse's heart raced as she faced Liam across the café table. The warmth of the bustling café felt distant, the laughter and chatter fading into a dull hum. She took a deep breath, gathering the courage to spill the fears that had been suffocating her.

"I've just been feeling... insecure," she confessed, her voice barely above a whisper. "It's hard to watch you and Quinn together and not feel like I'm losing you."

Liam's brow furrowed, his expression shifting from concern to confusion. "Elysse, I promise you, it's nothing like that. Quinn is a friend. You're my girlfriend. I don't want you to feel this way."

"But it's hard not to! You two have this chemistry, and I can't help but feel like I'm on the outside looking in," she admitted, her voice trembling.

Liam reached across the table, his hand finding hers. "You're not on the outside. You're the most important person in my life. Quinn and I joke and laugh, but that's all it is friendship. I love you, Elysse."

His words wrapped around her like a comforting blanket, but doubt still lingered. "What if that changes? What if one day you realize you like her more than me?"

Liam shook his head, his grip tightening on her hand. "That's not going to happen. I care about you deeply. You have to trust me."

But trust felt fragile, like glass ready to shatter. Elysse forced a smile, wanting to believe him but unable to shake the gnawing feeling that had taken root in her heart.

As the conversation shifted back to lighter topics, Elysse tried to engage, but the laughter felt hollow. Quinn's playful banter with Liam felt like a reminder of what she feared losing. Every shared glance, every inside joke stung like a thorn, digging deeper into her insecurities.

Later that evening, as Elysse lay in bed, staring at the ceiling, she thought of Clark. He had always been there for her, a steady presence in her life. He'd listen to her vent about school, offer his support when she was down. But she had never seen him as more than a friend.

A soft knock broke the silence of her room. "Elysse, it's me," Clark's voice called softly.

"Come in," she replied, sitting up.

Clark entered, concern etched on his face. "I thought I'd check on you. You seemed a bit off today."

Elysse sighed, the weight of her emotions spilling over. "I just... I don't know. Everything feels so complicated."

He sat on the edge of her bed, his gaze steady. "Want to talk about it?"

She hesitated, torn between the comfort of sharing and the fear of revealing too much. "It's just Liam and Quinn. I'm worried. I can't help but feel like I'm losing him to her."

Clark's expression darkened, and he took a breath. "Elysse, you're not losing Liam. If he cares about you like I think he does, he'll choose you."

"But what if he doesn't?" she whispered, tears brimming in her eyes. "What if he realizes he wants someone else?"

Clark shifted closer, his presence grounding. "Elysse, look at me. You're amazing, and you deserve someone who will choose you every single time. If Liam can't see that, then he doesn't deserve you."

His words pierced through her worries, but the sadness remained. "It just hurts. I don't want to lose him, and I don't want to lose Quinn either."

Clark sighed, frustration mingling with empathy. "Friendships and relationships can be complicated. But you have to stand up for yourself, for what you want. Don't let fear dictate your choices."

Elysse nodded, appreciating his support but feeling the heaviness of uncertainty. "Thank you, Clark. I don't know what I'd do without you."

He smiled softly, but his eyes held a hint of something deeper, something she had always overlooked. "I'm always here for you. You know that, right?"

"I know," she replied, feeling the warmth of his friendship.

As he left her room, Elysse's heart ached. She wished she could feel the same way about Clark, but her heart was tangled in a web of uncertainty and longing for Liam. And now, with Quinn looming over her insecurities, it felt like everything was slipping away.
