The sound of breaking glass startled everyone. Rohan, Reyansh, and aman immediately rushed toward nitya room, where vinay is in from past 2 days their hearts pounding. They weren't sure what had happened, but they knew Vinay wasn't doing well. He had been shutting himself ever since Nitya's, and no one could get through to him.
Rohan reached the door first. His hand shook slightly as he pushed it open. Inside, Vinay was on his knees, surrounded by shards of glass. His body looked like it had finally given up, slumped forward, his hands hanging loosely by his sides shaking as he tried to grip the photograph . It was like everything that had been weighing on him crashed down all at once.
Kavya looked at vinay hand direction to where its going a picture frame on the floor, shattered. Inside was a photo of Nitya, smiling brightly, her face now barely visible through the cracks in the glass.
"Vinay," Reyansh called softly, stepping closer. "You can't keep doing this, man."
Vinay didn't respond. His eyes were locked on the broken frame, tears streaming down his face. It was the first time any of them had seen him cry since Nitya died. He had been putting brave facade infront of everyone and crying alone but this time.
Rohan crouched down next to him, putting a hand on Vinay's shoulder. "We're here V . You don't have to go through this alone. You're not the only one who's hurting."
Vinay's voice came out in a hoarse whisper. "I don't know what to do anymore. I feel like I'm drowning, and I don't know how to get out."
Aradhya knelt beside them, her voice calm but full of emotion. "You don't have to figure it all out right now. Just let us help. We've all been trying, but you keep pushing us away."
Vinay looked at her, his eyes filled with pain. "I'm not trying to push anyone away. I just... I don't know how to deal with this. Nitya's gone, and I feel like part of me died with her."
Kavya, who had been standing silently next to Aradhya, spoke up, her voice cracking. "We all miss her, Vinay. But we can't lose you too. Chestha needs you. She's pregnant her and baby need you."
Vinay closed his eyes, taking a shaky breath. The mention of Chestha made his chest tighten. She had been so strong, doing everything she could to keep their family together, and he had been shutting her out. He didn't know how to let her in when he felt so broken inside.
Aman reached for his hand, his grip firm. "We're all here, Vinay. You don't have to go through this by yourself. Let us in, let Chestha in. We'll figure it out together."
Vinay's shoulders sagged as he finally let go of the weight he had been carrying alone. He wasn't ready to move on, but he didn't have to do it all at once. He didn't have to do it alone.
Rohan helped him to his feet, and as he stood, Reyansh and Aradhya stepped forward, their faces full of concern but also relief. Vinay wasn't back to normal, but at least he was standing. At least he was letting them help.
"Come on," Reyansh said, his voice soft. "Let's get out of this room. We'll clean up in here, and then we can talk. Or we can sit in silence, whatever you need."
Vinay gave a small nod, not trusting his voice to speak yet. As they led him out of the room, Kavya and Rohan stayed behind to pick up the shattered pieces of the frame. It fel like they were all slowly picking up the broken pieces of their lives.
In the living room , Chestha was waiting, her face pale and tired. When she saw Vinay, her eyes welled up with tears, but she quickly wiped them away, not wanting to make him feel worse.
"Vinay," she whispered, stepping toward him.
For the first time in days, Vinay reached for her, pulling her into his arms. He didn't say anything, but the way he held her, the way his body shook as he finally let go of the grief he had been holding in, said everything.
Chestha hugged him tightly, her own tears falling now. She had been so afraid that she was losing him too, that the grief was going to pull him under, but now, in this moment, she knew they would make it through this—together.
Reyansh, Aradhya, Rohan, and Kavya stood nearby, giving them space but ready to step in if needed. It wasn't going to be easy. There were still a lot of hard days ahead, but for the first time since Nitya's death, it felt like they weren't drowning. They were still in deep waters, but at least now, they were swimming together.
The house was quiet, but it was no longer filled with the suffocating silence of grief. It was a silence of healing, of small steps forward, of a family slowly coming back together after being shattered.
Vinay wasn't okay, not yet. But for the first time in days, he knew he didn't have to be. He had his friends, his family, and most importantly, he had Chestha. And that was enough for now forever.
