As the morning light filtered through the curtains, Jaeyun slowly woke up, blinking against the soft rays of sunshine. He stretched slightly, feeling the soreness in his muscles but also a deep sense of warmth and contentment. His thoughts immediately drifted to Heeseung, who was still lying beside him, his arm draped protectively over Jaeyun.
A smile crept onto Jaeyun’s face as he looked at his mate. Heeseung, who had once seemed so intimidating, had become the person who made him feel the safest. Jaeyun couldn’t help but feel grateful—he had found someone who cared for him, protected him, and, most importantly, loved him unconditionally.
The events of the last few weeks flashed through his mind—their bond, the challenges they had faced, and the way Heeseung had always been there for him. It made Jaeyun feel incredibly lucky. He never thought he’d have someone like Heeseung in his life, someone who would go to great lengths to make sure he was happy and comfortable.
As he laid there, Jaeyun realized how much his life had changed for the better. He had a mate who not only loved him but made him feel cherished. That thought alone filled him with joy, and for the first time in a long while, he woke up feeling truly happy.
Turning slightly, Jaeyun gently brushed a strand of hair from Heeseung’s face, his heart swelling with affection. He knew that whatever challenges lay ahead, he could face them as long as Heeseung was by his side.
Heeseung stirred slightly, his eyes fluttering open to meet Jaeyun’s gaze. “Morning,” he murmured, his voice still heavy with sleep.
Jaeyun smiled brightly. “Morning. I’m just... really happy today,” he admitted softly.
Heeseung’s lips curled into a sleepy smile as he tightened his arm around Jaeyun. “Good. You should be.”
And with that, Jaeyun nestled closer to Heeseung, feeling at peace with the world, knowing that he had found something truly special in the mate lying next to him.
After drifting back into sleep for a little while, Jaeyun woke up again, feeling fully rested and ready to start the day. He looked down at Heeseung, who was still asleep, his arm resting gently over Jaeyun’s waist. Smiling softly, Jaeyun carefully lifted Heeseung’s hand, doing his best not to wake him.
He couldn’t help but feel a bit guilty; Heeseung had been so concerned about him lately, going above and beyond to make sure he was taken care of. Jaeyun wanted to give him a peaceful morning, a moment of rest.
Once he was free, Jaeyun tiptoed quietly around the room, grabbing a fresh set of clothes. He quickly freshened up and headed to the kitchen, deciding to make a simple breakfast for them. He thought about the little ways he could show his appreciation for Heeseung, who had been his constant source of strength and support.
As he began preparing breakfast, he imagined the look on Heeseung’s face when he woke up to the smell of food, and the thought warmed his heart. This simple act was his way of giving back, even just a little, to the mate who meant the world to him.
