"Two days until we reach Los Angeles. Plenty of time before our deadline to reach the Underworld." Grover smiled and Odyssa nodded, yawning as she sipped on her cup of coffee.

"Can I ask a dumb question?" Percy asked.

"It's like you need me to make fun of you." Annabeth shook her head.

"Shoot."

"I've never been to Los Angeles before. I'm guessing neither of you have been to Los Angeles. So, how will we have any idea where we're going?" Percy asked and Grover shrugged.

"No idea. But that's like step 37, and we're still on step four. Cross that bridge when we get there." Grover shrugged.

"Yeah, and is the bridge troll the guy downstairs?" Odyssa asked and Annabeth chuckled softly.

Percy thought for a second before saying, "Follow-up stupid question."

"Dude." Annabeth rolled her eyes.

"'And you shall fail to save what matters most in the end.' Back in Jersey, I told you the Oracle said this quest would fail. And no one's mentioned it since. Seems like something we oughta be taking a little more seriously."

Grover and Odyssa exchanged glances before the hazel-eyed girl turned to Annabeth, "He's sort of right, y'know?" She whispered and Annabeth shook her head.

"Doesn't mean that the quest will fail. Just said that something fails." Annabeth reminded her and Odyssa nodded, agreeing with Annabeth.

"Hey. Look at that. Are those..." Percy re-directed his attention to the window. Everyone turned their heads to see a couple of centaurs running around the field.

"Centaurs." Odyssa finished his sentence with a slight smile.

Percy looked around, slightly weirded out that no one could see them. But it wasn't like it was new for him, no one saw what he saw. "No one even knows they're there."

"There used to be herds of them everywhere." Grover reminisced.

"What happened to them?"

"Humans... A few thousand years ago, the god of the wild, Pan, disappeared. And ever since, without Pan to protect the natural world, humans have been trying really hard to chip away at it." Grover explained.

'"Sometimes, the worst monsters are human."' Odyssa remembered her sister's words. She was right... She was always right... Odyssa fiddled with the buckle of her leather bag once again, if she continued, she was sure it would probably fray.

"The bravest satyrs volunteer to become Searchers, trying to find Pan," Annabeth said. "None have ever returned."

"Your uncle we found in Medusa's, Ferdinand." Percy realized, "He was a Searcher?"

Grover, not daring to look at anyone, stared out the window with a slight nod. It was hard for him, he was going to be a Searcher... He would've been a good Searcher.

Annabeth breathed, "The Oracle didn't say the quest would fail. 'Fail to save what matters most.' That could mean a lot of things. That's how prophecies work, that's how fate works."

"She's right, it could mean a lot of things. The harder you try to understand, the harder it is to understand." Odyssa explained, "I'm sure Luke's told you that trying to figure out why the gods do what they do would drive you mad, right?"

Percy nodded along with what Odyssa and Annabeth said before a security guard came up to the four of them. "Excuse me. Can I see your tickets, please?" He asked.

They all exchanged glances with each other before Annabeth reached into her bag and handed him their tickets. As he read them, his expression got more and more confused, "You're in Cabin 17B?"
