Percy slowly stepped towards the monster, his sword raised as he quickly sliced the monster in the foot. Odyssa quickly shot at the monster, and the arrow lodged into the same foot as well before Percy was thrown back into her.
Percy grunted as the monster stepped towards them slowly and they quickly scrambled up. Odyssa shot another arrow, grazing the side of its eye. She gritted her teeth, the more the poison overtook her body, the more blurry it got.
The monster opened its mouth, the fire slowly creeping up as Odyssa pulled Percy out of its fiery way. "Get up. You are a warrior, a huntress. Get up and fight!" A voice yelled in her head and Odyssa immediately stood up with her bow and arrow aimed at the monster's head.
Her hands were shaky as she struggled to stay up. Odyssa shot the arrow, landing it straight into the side of its neck. Percy crawled away before Echidna opened a hole into the arch.
A rush of wind breezed through as Odyssa stumbled and shot another arrow, missing the forehead and landing it near the monster's arm. Percy held up his sword as he stood in front of the monster with a shaky breath. The monster ran and headbutted the sword away, pushing him down the hole.
"Get up and fight, Odyssa! You are a daughter of Artemis, act like it." Odyssa widened her eyes as she aimed an arrow not at the monster but at the Echidna. The arrow pierced the woman's arm as she gritted her teeth and flicked her hand once again.
The monster flung Odyssa to the side of the wall and she fell down the hole as well. Percy managed to grab her hand, holding it tightly as he tried to hold onto the ledge as well.
"So unfair. You never had a chance, did you?" Echidna stood above the two teens, "If only someone cared enough for you to provide you with one."
"PERCY LET GO OF ME!" She yelled. Percy looked down at her as Odyssa's hold loosened on his hand. "Just let go... I'll be fine!" She yelled through the wind.
"You're insane if you think I'm gonna let you go!" Percy yelled back, tightening his grip on her hand even though he was slipping.
Eventually, they both fell. The wind roared as her heart pounded in her chest, a chaotic rhythm she couldn't control. She didn't mean for this to happen, not like this, not now.
Percy wrapped his arms around Odyssa, tucking her into him as they both closed their eyes to meet their fatal fate. I guess they were taking the easy way to the Underworld.
And in those final moments, an eerie calm settled over her. This was the end. There would be no second chances, no time to correct. The darkness closed in, the ground waiting, unyielding.
Until her senses were flooded with... Water?
Percy looked around, Odyssa no longer in his arms as he saw her beside him, trying to dig her leg out. He tried to speak but realized... He was underwater. Fear gripped his heart as he also struggled to pull out of the thing trapping his foot.
Odyssa looked to Percy, fear evident in her eyes. It was weird... It was the first time he'd seen her terrified. Sure he'd seen her worried or scared but never frightened like that.
Odyssa was growing weaker, the poison made her struggle and her hands fumbled to get her foot out of the ground.
"You are frightened." A calm voice said. Percy whipped his head around and squinted to see something glowing in the water. "It's all right, Percy. Your father sent me to tell you, it's all right. Just breathe."
Percy tried but water filled his lungs instead. Odyssa struggled as she started to run out of air. She tried pulling her leg out once again.
"Your father is here. He's always been here. It is so hard for him to stand back. To see you struggle. It is so hard for us all."
