The Dawn of Elyria
Elyria was once a realm of unparalleled beauty and wonder, a land where magic and nature intertwined to create a harmonious balance between civilization and the untamed wilderness. In the days before the Great Sundering, two mighty civilizations reigned supreme over the land: the Eldridians, masters of arcane magic and unrivaled in their knowledge, and the Drakonians, a fierce warrior people whose culture revolved around the worship of dragons, the ancient beings who had once ruled the skies and the earth.
Built upon the twin pillars of knowledge and magic, the Eldridians were a society that considers themselves to be the keeper of Elyria's grandest secrets. Their scintillating white stone cities rose up throughout the landscape like little beacons of light, taking pointed pinnacles to heights that seemed almost impossible and each serving as a testament to their mastery over arcane arts. They harnessed the elemental forces of the world—fire, water, earth, and air—wielding them as tools to shape their cities and to protect their people from the threats that lurked beyond their borders. Yet, as their power grew, so too did their ambition. They sought not only to understand magic but to dominate it, to bend the very fabric of reality to their will.
On the opposite side of the continent, the Drakonians thrived in their vast, fortified cities, built into the jagged cliffs and mountains of Elyria's northern reaches. Their culture was shaped by their reverence for dragons, creatures they believed to be divine, the true rulers of the world. The Drakonians saw themselves as the chosen warriors of the dragons, born to carry out their will and protect their ancient secrets. Unlike the Eldridians, who relied on arcane knowledge, the Drakonians believed in strength, honor, and the bond between man and beast. Their warriors were trained from a young age to fight alongside dragons, forging a connection that was both sacred and unbreakable.
For centuries, these two civilizations coexisted in an uneasy peace. They shared the same land, but their cultures, values, and beliefs were so different that it was only a matter of time before tensions began to rise. The Eldridians, viewing themselves as the rightful rulers of Elyria, saw the Drakonians as little more than primitive dragon-worshippers, while the Drakonians resented the Eldridians' arrogance and their attempts to impose their will over the land.
It was in this volatile landscape that the seeds of destruction were sown. Neither the Eldridians nor the Drakonians could have foreseen the true nature of the catastrophe that was about to befall them—a cataclysm that would reshape the world forever.
The Rising Tensions
As the centuries passed, the Eldridians continued to push the boundaries of their magical prowess. They built towering academies dedicated to the pursuit of arcane knowledge and trained generations of mages in the manipulation of the elemental forces. With each discovery, their confidence grew, and their reach extended across the land. Their greatest minds uncovered ancient texts, performed rituals that opened doorways to other planes of existence, and experimented with the very essence of life itself. The once harmonious relationship between magic and nature in Elyria began to fray as the Eldridians sought to reshape the world in their own image.
