So I forgot a few things to add about the Ōkami clan.
1: they secretly have their own tailed beast. Miyuki the ten-tailed wolf.

Just as her name means beautiful winter, she is kind and beautiful. And just like the harsh unforgiving winter. She is deadly, vicious and precise. She is both caring and strict.
2: the mark on the back of Kami's left shoulder won't show until she hits puberty. Which will happen somewhere around her eleventh birthday.
3: though most Ōkami clan members got their wolf guardian at the age of thirteen Kami got her wolf guardian at the age of three.
4: Kami's wolf guardian is just a smaller one-tailed version of Miyuki.
