Beyoncé's house

BEYONCÉ

"Beyoncé! Wake up!" Solange's voice pierced through the haze of my sleep, high-pitched and relentless. I groaned, burying my face deeper into my pillow, wishing the world would just stop for a moment.

"Solo, it's too early for this," I mumbled, begging the universe to grant me a few more precious minutes.

"Are you kidding me? I'm about to start high school! We can't be late! Mom said you're driving us!" Her excitement was infectious, and I felt my irritation melting away, but the weight of my own thoughts dragged me down.

"Okay, okay! I'm up!" I finally surrendered, swinging my legs over the side of the bed. The chill of the floor jolted me awake, and I shuffled to the bathroom, trying to wash away the drowsiness.

After a rushed shower and a hasty breakfast, I threw on my favorite oversized hoodie and some jeans, grabbing my bag as I headed for the door. Solange was bouncing around the living room, adjusting her hair in the hallway mirror, her enthusiasm palpable.

"Beyoncé! Are you ready yet? We're gonna be late!"

I rolled my eyes but couldn't help smiling at her excitement. The first day of high school was a big deal for her.

As I stepped out of the house, I caught a glimpse of my mom in the kitchen. Just as I was about to hop into the car, she called out, "Beyoncé! Don't forget to take your ADHD meds!"

I paused, feeling the familiar wave of resistance rise within me. "I don't need them, Mama! I'm fine!" I protested, already sliding into the driver's seat.

"Beyoncé, you know that's not true. You need them to focus, especially today," she insisted, a note of worry lacing her tone.

I sighed, rolling my eyes. "I'll take them later. I promise." It was a negotiation I'd been having with myself for years, and right now, I just wanted to get Solo to school without any more fuss.

Once we were settled in the car, I glanced at my phone to check the time. We had just enough to pick up Landon before heading to school.

"Come on" I said, as we pulled out of the driveway. "We still have to pick up Landon"

"Do you think I'll get lost? What if I can't find my classes? What if no one wants to be my friend?" Solange fired questions at me like rapid-fire. Lord give me strength. I stopped the car suddenly.

She looked at me confused. "Why did you stop?"

"Do you want to take the bus?" I asked.

"No." She replied.

"Then quit asking stupid questions". I noticed a shift in her mood and started to feel bad. "Look everyone is just as nervous as you are. Plus, you'll make friends in no time," I reassured her, though I knew the social life of high school could be daunting.

Once we got to Landons I saw him step out the house followed by... Onika? I wasn't expecting her to be coming, I thought she would be riding with Lauren.

Once they got to the car I turned to Solange, "Back" I said as I pointed my thumb in the direction of the back seat.

"But-" I gave her a look and she knew not to protest. "Ugh fine" she said as she got in the back.

Once Landon got in the car I dapped him up. "Ready for our last first day of high school?" I asked.

"As ever, I cant wait to be done with this shit"
