6:00 AM
Marinette wakes up, ready for a new day, and starts to get ready. Marinette still has 3 hours before school starts, but today was a special day. It would be her first day as a sophomore. It was better than a freshman because you're no longer picked on by the seniors. And better than a junior because you're not constantly stressed for college.
She had constantly been stressed her freshman year due to the culture of her school. At first, people were curious about her, but as they learned more, she seemed to become the thing people would laugh at when they were bored.
Even though Marinette was number one in everything she did; Sports, Academics, Volunteer, extracurriculars, it was simply never enough. She was never worthy of their attention. Simply for belonging to the cloth for which she had been cut.
Constantly dressing herself up to fit in, designing her own clothes, fingers pricked and bruised. She bled. And when they started praising her for her outfits, she would finally feel accepted. All until someone asked her who she was wearing. Proudly, she would state, "I made them myself." Everyone was awestruck. Or so she thought.
Behind her back, she would hear. "I mean, she has to make up for all she lacks,"
"At that point, I guess it would be the only way for her to be original."
"I dunno, even some lower quality clothes look nice in comparison,"
She felt judged for everything she did... It burned to think that they might be right. She wasn't as well mannered as the kids in her school. They were born to sit in high thrones while Marinette had been climbing to the top of the steepest mountain in the world.
Her parents have always supported her in her fashion career. Although it was hard at first for her mom to comprehend, in the end, she understood that grades weren't everything. Still, Marinette made her proud by getting into a prestigious school at the age of 12.
Yes, she had been stuck hearing hurtful rumors and remarks for the past 4 years. She's been so lonely throughout these past few years. She was too scared to take the first step towards friendship. It's even harder when she sees year-long friendships destroyed over petty rumors and lies.
Finally, Marinette was ready for the day. She still had an hour and a half left until she needed to leave. She decides to take a nap as she waits for the time to run out.
8:47 AM
Marinette woke up in a flash, her mother calling for her. "Marinette! Have you left yet? You forgot the macaroons to take for your first day back!" Her mother, Sabine, slightly scolded.
"I'm coming, mom!" Marinette yelled as she stumbled down the ladder and into the kitchen. She was greeted by her mother with a batch of freshly baked macaroons. She took the box from her hand and kissed her cheek as she raced outside. She bumped into her father, Tom, as she greets him and rushes out the front door. He chuckles as he sees her worried expression.
At the crosswalk, Marinette spotted an old frail man trying to walk across oncoming traffic. She quickly rushes him over to the other side as she falls on her butt. The macaroons were still intact.
"Thank you, young miss, that was very noble of you," the old man said slowly as Marinette said that it wasn't a problem and started racing to get to her class on time.
The bell rings as she enters the school.
She feels relaxed enough to walk to her classroom. She sat down by a nice view of the courtyard. She would put her head down, but then suddenly she heard an angelic voice.
"Marinette Dupain-Cheng," Chloe would say clearly and sweetly. Even though it was just her name, she felt as if she was in trouble.
Chloe was the one person she respected. She was the only person that was imune of any negative remarks. Not that anyone would dare drag her name. Not that they could. She was so kind, and she commanded respect. She was always throwing grand parties and making sure that everyone was invited. This was huge since most people at this school have exclusive parties.
