The School 11:45 PM
A heavy weight settled over Adrien as his birthday approached. The day his mother vanished, without a trace, a mystery unsolved. No sign, no clue, not even a whisper of her whereabouts. Security cameras offered no answers.
He was sitting next to Nino when these thoughts had come up. Adrien finally told his friend his secret: he was an Agreste. Surprisingly, Nino was indifferent to the fact that he was sitting next to an influencer. He was too busy connecting the dots about how he and Chloe ended up becoming friends.
"Dude, I'm just surprised that you were able to attend school. I heard your father hates going outside. He might just be a vampire."
A giggle escaped Adrien, and when he looked back, his friend was already entranced by the pigtailed girl. She was talking to the brunette.
"So Mari, when's your birthday?" Alya asked.
"It has already passed. It was during the summer, on July 9th." She stood up."The funniest thing though, on that day, someone mailed me my favorite album of Jagged Stone." She giggled.
"Girl, that ain't funny. That's creepy," Alya shivered and stood up with her.
"Oh, Alya, many people know my address because I work and live at the bakery. My parents always throw a big party for me, and I constantly talk about Jagged Stone with my parents. It wouldn't be hard to come over once and figure that much out."
Both girls left the classroom. Nino watched her leave the room. Adrien could practically see the little love hearts floating above his head.
"So you've liked her since before July? That's more than 3 months ago. What's got you so down bad?" Adrien stood up, both boys now walking to the cafeteria.
"Dude, she's just the kindest person I've ever met. Last Valentine, my ex girl had dumped me right in front of the whole school. No one particularly cared, but it was still embarrassing to cry in front of people, ya know?" Adrien nodded. They turned a corner.
"Anyways, Mari came to me after school and gave me some cupcakes. She said to me, 'I was going to confess to this guy I like, but I felt like you needed them more.' And then she left. She never spoke to me again. She's a shy girl, and knowing how everything happened so publicly, she probably wanted this moment of kindness to just be between us. I know that she just needed to do something when she saw someone in need." His friend kept on praising the ravenette.
Adrien wanted to move on with the conversation, so he simply asked. "So when is your birthday, Nino?"
"Oh, mine? It's December 17, yours?" Nino said while grabbing a tray for his lunch.
"Hmmm, I think it's tomorrow." Adrien said without batting an eye.
"WHAT?! What do you mean 'I think'?" Ninos mouth gaped wide open.
Adrien poured some soup into a bowl he grabbed for his tray. "I don't know, I rarely celebrate it." He said, dreading that he brought up the topic. It was just that since Marinette mentioned her birthday, he subconsciously mentioned Ninos.
"Forget my crush. We need to plan a party for you!" Nino said, finally sitting down at a table away from Marinette.
Adrien took note of their sitting placement and said, "I'm not sure a party aligns with my schedule." Adrien looked through his events for tomorrow on his phone.
"How can the day of your birth not fit in your schedule?" Nino said in an almost sarcastic tone.
Adrien flinched when he suddenly felt a hand on his shoulder. He looked back to see a sweet smile from Chloe.
