" if he's a serial killer, then what's the worst that can happen to a girl who's already hurt?
i'm already hurt
if he's as bad as they say, then I guess I'm cursed
looking into his eyes, i think he's already hurt"

The car ride was silent, both of them lost in their own thoughts. Celine rested her head against the cool glass of the window, watching the city lights blur as they sped through the streets. Her wrist throbbed, but it was nothing compared to the ache she felt in her heart. Something had changed tonight, and she couldn't ignore it anymore.

When the Uber finally pulled up to her place, Celine was almost reluctant to get out. Julian followed her up the steps, and for a moment, they stood there in front of her door, the stillness between them almost unbearable.

Julian turned to her, his expression softer now, but there was still an edge to it, an almost apologetic look in his eyes. "I'm sorry," he said quietly, his voice low. "I didn't mean to... I just lost it for a second."

Celine nodded, her heart heavy with conflicting emotions. She could hear the remorse in his voice, but it wasn't enough to quiet the unease growing inside her. "I know," she said softly, barely able to meet his gaze. "But... you can't do that, Julian. You can't let people get under your skin like that."

He nodded, but there was something unspoken behind his eyes, something darker still simmering beneath the surface. His jaw clenched slightly as he replied, "I won't let him near you again."

The intensity of his words sent a shiver down her spine. There it was again—that possessiveness, that anger. Celine didn't respond, couldn't bring herself to argue with him. Instead, she turned and unlocked the door, stepping inside her house. Julian lingered in the doorway, his presence heavy.

"See you tomorrow?" Julian asked, his voice uncertain.

Celine nodded, her body feeling heavier with every passing moment. "Yeah..." she said, though the word felt hollow, a promise she wasn't sure she could keep.
