June 2022 (past)

Arising the next morning more refreshed than she had felt in years, she was apprehensive of spending time with Nik. Never being one for randomly going out with a man in a foreign country. This was supposed to be her relaxing time with no obligations.

She supposed it was the same as in the States randomly meeting someone and asking them out on a date. But it happening in Greece? She hadn't been in the States much the past few years and definitely hadn't had a date in years prior to that.

When she was just starting as a correspondent there was time to date and explore relationships. Eventually work took over and relationships were further down on the list of wants and needs as related to what she wanted with her career.

There had been a couple men that seemed to be able to deal with her job, but after experiencing her being gone on assignment, it became clear they were not able to cope with her job, the responsibilities, and risks that came with it.

Heading to the front where the main desk of the hotel was, she found Nik, talking with the woman behind the desk. They laughed at something and an emotion akin to, jealousy, sparked inside her.

The woman must have known Nik was here for her because the woman pointed towards her, with Nik's head quickly following to bring her into his gaze.

His million-euro smile made something in her clench. The smile was all for her. Nik said something to the woman before heading her way.

"Kalimera, good morning." He spoke leaning in and giving her cheek a quick kiss.

"Good morning." She replied back.

"You look gorgeous, but you may need a swimsuit for today." He said appraising her outfit of shorts and a a short sleeve top. "I'll wait here while you change."

Nodding she went back to her room to put on a bathing suit underneath her clothes. Think of going with her black one, she ultimately decided on going with a different suit she had brought. Putting it on, she was almost anxious to take her clothes off for Nik to see it.

She must be losing her mind if she was thinking about seducing the man.

Coming back out to the main room, Nik was still there. Expecting to go out the front sliding door to the parking lot, she was surprised when he guided her to the sliding door that led out to the beach. Following the planking walkway, she saw a boat tethered to the dock.

"A boat ride?" she looked at him.

"I was raised on these waters." he told her, "Best place to see the country is from a boat."

"I was thinking it would be more of an inland tour."

"There are many things to see on the land, but the water is where I want to introduce you to Greece."

Walking down the plank way, he stepped into the reasonably newer boat before helping her down into it. This boat would normally fit anywhere from eight to ten people, but only having the two of them, it felt spacious. Settling down on a seat at the front of the boat, opposite to where the driver's seat was at, she put her sunglasses on and waited for the boat to get moving.

Once it did, it was glorious to feel the sea air blowing through her hair. She loved sitting at the front of boats, it allowed her to feel like she was flying over the water. As the boat flew over the water, she looked back to Nik. He had a large smile on his face, sunglasses covering his eyes, his own hair flying unkempt in the wind, but somehow, she knew his eyes were on her.

After what seemed too short a time, he slowed the boat down and turned instead of going straight. Bringing the boat back closer to the land, him yelling as he told her of the different areas on the shore they were passing. It was beautiful to see the country from this perspective. Made it seem even more unreal and magical.
