ೋ | [Y/n] and Sae had spent the entire autumn break becoming each other's constant companions. Their days were filled with games, laughter, and lessons— both intentional and accidental— as they traded words from Arabic and Japanese.

[Y/n] who was shy and uncertain in this new country at first, found herself growing braver with each passing day, her confidence bolstered by Sae's constant presence.

As the end of the vacation neared, the impending start of school loomed over them like a shadow but Sae reassured her again and again that school would be fun and that he would be there for her.

On the morning of [Y/n]'s first day at her new school, her parents helped her get ready, buttoning up her new uniform and adjusting her hair with gentle hands. Her uniform consisted of a white shirt with a light brown tie, a nutshell colored jacket with the school logo on the heart place over the shirt. As for the bottom, it was the same colored skirt with black tights and black shoes.

[Y/n]'s stomach churned with a mix of nerves and excitement, one arm clutching Basmah, her beloved teddy bear close to her chest, even though she knew she couldn't bring it to class. Her other hand was holding a small black bag.

Her parents exchanged reassuring smiles with her, telling her how proud they were of her and how exciting it would be to meet new friends. But [Y/n] couldn't shake the knot in her chest, wondering if the kids at school would be as kind as Sae.

When they stepped outside, they found Sae waiting at the end of their driveway, already dressed in his uniform that was the same as [Y/n]'s but in a boy's way— pants instead of a skirt.

His face broke into a wide grin as he spotted [Y/n], and he waved eagerly. "Good morning !" He called out and [Y/n] managed a small, shy wave back. Her parents greeted Sae warmly and Sae, noticing the worry in [Y/n]'s eyes, reached out and took her hand.

"You not worry, [Y/n]. School okay. I help you !" He said, his English simple but earnest, squeezing her hand lightly. [Y/n] glanced up at him, feeling a bit of the fear melt away. Sae's presence was like a small light guiding her through the unknown and she clung to that comfort.

With Sae leading the way, they walked together down the quiet streets toward the school, [Y/n]'s parents following a few steps behind, their expressions a blend of gratitude and fondness as they watched their daughter and her friend, they were glad that Sae was there for [Y/n].

Sae chatted as they went, pointing out familiar places and describing things he thought might make [Y/n] smile. "This tree big, right ? In spring, many flowers !" He said, pointing to a tall cherry tree near the school entrance that was for now, denuded of any flower. [Y/n] looked up, imagining it covered in pink blossoms and nodded with a small smile.
