The dinner begins with a flurry of laughter
Clinking Champagne glasses and murmurs of blather
Extravagant and elegant dressed ladies boast about their jewelries and hair
Whereas the gentlemen soak themselves up in pseudo-chivalrous affairs
The King is perched at the head with a charming smile
Speaking of riches and rewards with glamorous pride
Though beneath all that shimmer and charm and glitter
There is just a young boy whose happiness has withered
And the Queen is ever so lively and pretty
Dressed in red royal riches studded with emeralds and rubies
Yet no one knows how the crimson running through her veins
Bleeds every night drop by drop through the cracks of her pristine skin
The dishes are laden with envy and pride
It all tastes like ash and sadness to the tongue and the mind
Though every lady and duke and heir praises the platter
As its better than to crack open those layers of false laughter
The court jester with his antics and jokes
Makes the guests laugh and giggle an uproar
No matter how hollow that laughter sounds to the ear
It conceals the court's gloomy darkness and fear
Each nod, each giggle, each word and breath
is practised and perfected till no one can see the reality
Because even though the kings and the queens are tucking their pain deep inside
The castles are crumbling
The walls are weeping
The floor is shaking in absolute fear
They would still put on a face to conceal the reality
Because the Kings and Queens, even though they bleed, they bleed elegantly.
