Numb (Spoken Word Poetry)

She bleeds.

Overflowing with the darkness that continues to rush in her veins

with the pressure of the greed, hunger and pain

That sucked out the happiness out of her rosy cheeks

and made it Impossible for her to love the pitter patter of the

raindrops falling on her face.

She screams.

She screams until her voice is hoarse

but she knows that no sound comes out of her mouth

because the world is no more willing to lend a ear

to the blue, lifeless souls

Her vocal cords fold over on its own

it's like her body has given up hope

and now has unwillingly succumbed to the black hole

she once mistook as a ray of hope

She lies.

She lies because it's easier than to let those monsters disguised

As angels know what goes inside her numb mind

as she knows they will choke her breath of fresh air,

they will muffle her screams for help,

they will bury her self esteem so low in the ground

that it will never see the rays of happiness and hope .

She cries.

She cries until she can't see what's in front of her eyes

but it's better this way as she doesnt want to see the torture

reaching out to her enveloping itself around her

whispering unholy nightmares to her

caressing her hair in a way that makes her want to pull out her roots.

She drowns.

She drowns until she chokes on her own breath,

trying hard to swim against the dark ocean's menacing wrath,

and she hears the heaving of her lungs which is filled with the harsh words piercing through her body

like arrows falling from the smoke-lit sky

between the war of her brain and her heart.

She falls.

Falls deep in the facade she once thought was love

only to realise that the butterflies that erupted in her stomach were plastic

and the oh-so-red colour rising in her cheeks was not realistic

as it was only a way to make her fake-believe

that she was deserving of love.

She tries

Every. Single. Day of her life and is still questioning

how the hell she is still alive

Her forest now dark, the trees with wilted leaves and butterflies with broken wings

She still puts on a fake smile even though she has a thousand reasons to die and many million tears left to cry.

She is feeling so much, at this point she wishes to

feel nothing

Be nothing

Know nothing

They say she changed a lot

But she says, a lot changed her.
