Chapter Six

~Arabella

Those leeches cannot get any shameless than this.

I took a walk on the second floor as I watched as they drank and laughed loudly, acting as though the manor belonged to them. Even after I told them they were only allowed in the annex and not the main house, are they trying to test my patience?!

Turning to the knight escorting me

"Make sure as soon as they are done with that last bottle they are moved to the annex, I will be in my room, it has gotten late" I turned towards the direction of my room

"Very well my lady, I'll make sure your orders are carried out" the knight bowed as I walked out.

I laid in bed, only one lamp was lit as I busied myself with the book I had taken from the library, reading was the only thing I took joy in after father, mother and my brothers had passed, it was the only thing I could hold on to, my last string of sanity, Something I began again last month in hopes to grasp my self that seemed to be fading away. I have already lost enough, I couldn't lose myself as well.

The manor had grown quiet which I appreciated, it seems that they had finally made their way to the annex, that disgusting dog of an uncle. I flipped onto the next page then I heard it, it was small and if there wasn't already silence I would have missed it. There it was again! The little creak, quickly I instinctively turned off the lamp and waited, the door to my room opened, someone had entered my room

Darn it!

Why did I turn off the lamp?!

The moon was up and it will be a while before my eyes adjusted to the darkness

"Who goes there?!" I spoke loudly

"If you don't speak I will alert the guards?!" I held the wrung hanging by the side of my bed to alert the servants, if I pulled it three times they would call the manor knights immediately

"it's alright, it is only me your cousin" a familiar voice spoke

Slowly my eyes got used to the darkness and I could slowly make out the features of the intruder, it was the viscount's son, I could never remember his name and he was always so forgettable

"Are you mad?! What are you doing in my room?! Never mind I do not want to know, get out!"

"Now that is not the way to speak to your family" he sneered

"What family?! Do not be ridiculous do you realize the floor on which you stand, you are not even supposed to here!"

"Exactly, what do you think the servants will think when they find an unmarried man and an unmarried woman in the same space at night without any servants?" was he smirking?! This disgusting man

I had taken a bath before bed, combing out my tangled hair and had gotten into my night wear, since I had been in my mourning attire and not bother changing out of it any witness would think wrongly of the situation but this was my home, my father had personally handpicked his attendants and the workers in the manor loved him so I can confidently say that I have more allies than not in my own home something that wasn't found in other noble houses

"Which part of me do you think look stupid?" the words were so heavy in my chest due to the disgust and anger I was harboring that I couldn't help but grit the words out

"Get the hell out!" I held the wrung so tightly that my knuckle turned white

His face scrunches up in disgust as he had made his way closer to my bed
