Chapter 9

'Mommy. Why did you do this?'

'Do what baby?'

'Keep my room the same.'

'Because you loved this room.'

'But I want the new baby to love this room too!'

'What?'

'Mommy. You are having another baby! I get to have a brother or sister!'

'Yeah!' I smiled down at my daughter.

'Give them my room so they have a part of me, mommy.'

'Ok baby. If it's what you want.'

'Goodbye mommy.'

'Wait. Where are you going?'

'I'll see you later mommy. Take care of my baby---' Talia was cut off.

I was woken up by Derek.

"Megan! Megan what's wrong? Baby? Megan!!" Derek was yelling.

"What's going on?" I asked.

"You were telling in your sleep. You were saying like 'don't go. Please don't go'. Or something." He said.

"I had a dream." I said in a rush. "Talia she asked why we haven't changed her room and I told her because she loved that room and she wants the new baby to love it too and to have a piece of her." I said with out a breath.

"It's ok, sweetheart. Your fine." I fell asleep to the sound of my husbands heartbeat.

"Mommy. Wake up!!" A little boy whispered.

"Oh Pete. I'm up." I laughed. He kissed my cheek.

"Morning mommy. Mamaw wants you to get up and eat breakfast with us!" He said. "We are having oatmeal." He said. With a sad face.

"What's wrong? You love oatmeal buddy?" I said.

"Not anymore." He said.

"Why not?" I asked.

"Because it was Tally's favorite too. And I can't eat it anymore." He said.

"Well can you try and not make mamaw feel bad?" I asked. He thought for a minute, then nodded. "That's my boy." I said. Even though I was still in my pajamas, I went down to eat. But before I did, I stopped dead in my tracks. I overheard a conversation I wasn't meant too. Because well one led to another.

"Who's Josh Williams?" Derek asked.

"A guy that she knew in college. They dated for a bit but she called everything off. " Pop explained. "Why?" He asked.

"He came up to her while I used the bathroom last night." Derek said.

"Don't worry. She told me why she called it off." Pop told him.

"Why?" He asked.

"Because. She said she missed you. She waited for you for 5 years to come and find her. She gave up and her and josh just started talking. They were together for 6 months. She called off because she said it didn't feel right. That's when she finished college, she decided to back to Cali. Now here you guys are." Pop said.

"I'm scared." Derek confessed.

"Why?" Mamaw spoke up.

"I've seen her smile once. Once in two weeks. She was riding and she smiled. I mean, she may have 'smiled' before, but they weren't real smiles. I know her smile. I haven't seen that in awhile." He trailed off. "Last night. She was screaming in her sleep saying 'don't go please don't leave me.' And she told about it. It was about Talia." Derek said.
