I kissed Dad on the cheek. I barely even arrived and he was already snoring on the couch, the television still running. The football match he was watching still hadn't finished yet.
A part of me thought about what the house would look like if Mum would've been here. The house would definitely be much cleaner. I knew that Dad worked late shifts, but I'm sure it wasn't such a big effort to clean the dirty dishes every now and then. I tried telling myself that it was better without her, just so that I didn't have to think of what could've been.
Ever since I left the cafeteria this morning, I couldn't stop thinking about the guy from lunch. Not even Raven was kind enough to give me a strawberry smoothie. If I paid her for it, sure, but not without a reason. It's not that she wasn't a good friend. The way we expressed ourselves was just different from other friendships. At least that's what I told myself.
With a couple of beers in my hand, I got from the fridge, I headed upstairs. I was going to have my own party tonight.
I peeled my clothes off my skin and threw on a pair of sweatpants. I felt sticky, but I couldn't be bothered to get in the shower.
My thoughts went back to Bags. I didn't even know his name. He could turn out to be an absolute asshole, but there was something about him I couldn't quite put my finger on.
Maybe I should go to the party after all.
