Prologue.

"Are you seriously going to let this little girl come in between us?! I'm your WIFE—not one of these little whores trying to use you for some 'come up'! What the hell is wrong with you?!" Kyesha venomously spat at her husband, verbally.

"You WERE my wife. And, stop blaming Avery for what YOU did. You gave up the right to question me about anything I may or may not be doing the moment you brought another man into this house and slept with him in OUR bed. Ky... Stop acting oblivious to the present circumstances you brought upon yourself. We signed the papers last week and you were simply supposed to come get your stuff today WITHOUT an argument. I have things to do so I'd rather not waste time hearing you rant all day. Just collect your things and leave." Joshua, Kyesha's husband darted back.

"Look who finally decided to grow a pair! I'm quite amused. One dose of 'Little Miss Perfect' and now you're finally standing up to me? I hate to say it but maybe you should've screwed her sooner. You probably would've had more hair on your chest and your balls finally would've dropped, so I wouldn't have spent the last 20 years of my life married to a passive punk ass, who runs to the church every time he can't figure out how to stand up to his WIFE. You're a joke, Josh." Kyesha chuckled with pity as she grabbed the last of her Louis Vuitton luggage and headed towards the front door of the couple's suburban home.

"See... This is why I divorced you. You are a wicked woman. The best thing that ever came from you was our daughter. I'm so thankful she turned out to be so much better than you. I wish I could've picked a different mother for her because she deserves better. See yourself out of my house, Ky... and your keycards for the front gate have been deactivated, so security will let you out." Joshua smirked after his last statement, knowing her finally gotten rid of the biggest thorn in his side.

Kyesha scoffed as she opened the door and the cold winter wind smacked her in the face. Joshua made sure to lock the door behind her and he began his ascent up the stairs. As he reached the top step, his phone began to ring. He checked the screen to see who it was and to his pleasure, it was just the lady he wanted to hear from at the moment. Pressing the fall button, he was met with her sweet voice greeting him from the other side of the line.

"Hey, You... How's your day going? Better than mine, I hope." Joshua spoke lovingly into the phone.

"Hey! It's going great, so far. Hopefully, I can make your day turn around a bit with the news I'm about to share. You wanna tell me what happened first?"

"That's good to hear. Just hearing your voice turned my day around, honestly. It's the same OLD thing... Kyesha. She came to get the rest of her things today and as usual—we got into an argument. She's gone now, so that problem took care of itself. Now... about this news? What's going on?"

"Oh God... She's at it again, hmm? I'm sorry to hear that. I'm glad she's finally gone though. She's a headache that you don't need especially sinceee... I just closed the deal with the Auburn Medical Center! They agreed to sponsor the clinic and to transfer some of their staff over to our location.... And... to sweeten the deal, they threw in an additional $5 million for any additional expenses we may incur." The woman smiled into the phone.

"AVERI! Are you kidding me? That's amazing! That's really the best news I've heard all week!! I knew you'd be the best person to close this deal! I'm so thankful for you. I'll tell you what... Let's go out to celebrate tonight. 7:30, maybe?"

"I couldn't believe it, myself! I'm really excited about it all. If it wasn't for you, I couldn't have done it. You encouraged me throughout the whole process. I'm really happy everything worked out for the best. We have a huge chapter ahead of us... I think that's worth celebrating. 7:30 is perfect. I'll be ready." Averi confidently smirks, thinking about how great the day is going so far.

"Give yourself the credit you deserve. You're really great at business and I'm sure that once they saw your smile... They were locked in. Thank you again, for everything. My life has definitely turned around since you've come into it. I'll be there really soon. I can't wait to see you so I can tell you these things in person." Joshua smiled as the conversation with Averi began to come to a close.

3 Hours Later...

As Joshua smoothly entered the highway, he merged over to the left lane. Just as he settled into the lane, his phone began to ring with the name "Gloria W" appearing on the screen where his GPS was once displayed. Quickly he tapped the button on the steering wheel to accept the call and immediately he was met with the voice of a crying Sister Gloria Wendon.

"JOSHUA!!!! YOU NEED TO GET TO THE HOSPITAL NOW! SOMETHING'S WRONG!"

"Sister G... Slow down. What's going on? What happened??" He asked as he felt his heart sank, knowing it had to be something wrong with Averi.

"I don't know what really happened... Everyone's saying it all happened so fast. She was walking to her car and three people ran up to her and started attacking her. They don't know if she's going to pull through. Joshua, they let me see her... it's not looking good. Everyone's on their way here. I don't know what to do." Gloria sobbed into the phone.

Joshua quickly shifted lanes to access the far right lane so he could exit the freeway and make his way to the hospital, which was about 10 minutes away. "I'm on my way. I'll be there in maybe 10 minutes or less." He assured before disconnecting the call.

"God, please... Please don't take her from me. I need her. I really need her in my life. I can't lose her..." Joshua prayed as his eyes welled up with tears from the weight of possibly losing the woman he'd suddenly fallen in love with, recently. Just that quick, Joshua's world began to crumble... and the realization became clear: Things Fall Apart.
