Context: Chase lost the house 3 months after he wife and child died so hes stuck renting a run down motel room in an even seedier county.
Chase had been driving for 4 hours looking for a cheap motel across six different counties but all of them were out of his price range until a billboard showed up WELCOME TO RADIOWAVE COUNTY ENJOY YOUR STAY AS MUCH AS WE ENJOY YOUR COMPANY motel 3 miles exit 95 in bold red letters. Chase had to chuckle at the bullshit sales pitch but it was the only motel for the next 5 miles and he was running out of gas. So Chase decided to check it out, exiting off the ramp and heading straight for the motel hoping they would have a gas station near it.
Chase pulled into the parking lot of the motel shutting off his car and exiting it. He entered the greeting room Hello excuse me if anyone is here i'd like to book a room but it was silent for a while. Chase then noticed a bell so he rang YES yes i heard you whatcha want a small old woman with traffic cone orange hair and too much makeup on her face came walking out. Sorry to bother you mam but i would like to book a room. Alright, how long are you staying? Three months mam. Alright ill book you for room 203 it has a single bed, tv, closet, a fully functional bathroom and a somewhat functioning coffee maker here are the keys if you have any more questions ask them in the morning . Thank you mam, have a good night. Yea yea just get the hell outta my sight. Chase abruptly left to unlock the door and to start moving in.
After 20 minutes, chase was fully moved in. whew im exhausted hm its close to 3 in the morning better get to bed ill take a shower when i wake up chase started to undress until he was in his underwear. He walked over to the mirror hang on the wall to look at himself seeing the huge bags under his eyes faintly noticing the shadow figure standing near the bed chase spon around but didn't see anything so he chalked it up to his imagination and exhaustion taking a toll on him and went to bed.then next morning chase woke up, took a shower and headed back to the greeting room to speak to...kathy? That was her name right? The old lady that checked him in last night. He rang the bell again and waited for her.yes whatcha want now late comer.
Hello mam, I have some questions. I was wondering if there is a gas station near here. I need to fill my car up/ also where can i do laundry and get food?/ Are there any jobs hiring? Yea there's a gas station a mile from here, laundromats right across from it, and town 5 miles past it you'll hit the hospital before hitting town and yes the old radio station is looking for a new radioman after the old one went missing 3 weeks back here i'll write down the address for you hun. Much appreciated mam as chase started to leave but stopped in his tracks. There was one more question I wanted to ask you: has anyone died in 203. Hm not to my knowledge why? Ah its nothing then forget about it ill be talking to you again kathy bye. Um bye then Mr.Brody, hm weird kid. Chase headed out to the gas station then to the radio station. Chase was amazed at how fast and easy he got the job but he was out on his luck to question it too much.
Three months had passed and Chase earned enough to start living in a better place. Hey Kathy, I'm moving out. I'll be moving to that apartment complex in the middle of town. Here's the keys. I'm gonna miss it here, I'm also gonna miss your smart ass quips. Har har chase just get outta here before you get even more sentimental on me better yet since you're gonna miss it here so much take that old mirror with you, i've been looking for a reason to get rid of it anyways.alright if you say so kathy chase left the greeting room for the last time and entered his room taking everything out putting it all back into his car and drove off not noticing the figure in the rear view mirror staring at him.
