You might be wondering how I survived 113 years, it’s because I’m a half-vampire/half-wizard. Anyway, I’m Mikael. My mom’s a witch while my dad is a vampire. Weird, right? Usually, Wizards/Witches who get turned usually lose their power because nature doesn’t want to connect with them anymore but me, I was born not turned. We can’t really tell how a vampire and a witch can produce an offspring like me, my mom said that while I was still being conceived, my mom preserved my connection with nature by using her magic, thus, making me a half-wizard/half-vampire. 113 years ago, the council figured out about me and protected me with all they have, but the Breathers were too strong for us, they almost wiped out everyone. They wanted to catch me and kill me, they wanted to breathe in my life because someone like me will supply them eternal life. Breathers drain out the life of people, not just like drinking blood but sort of like taking a soul but it’s not. They’re only taking the life force to prolong their life span. Since we were too weak at that time, the council decided to hide me and pretend like I was already dead. So they locked me up inside a coffin, my mom sealed it with her magic. That’s the last thing I remember.
“113 years?! That’s like ages ago?!” I shouted. “I know, it’s been so long but we had to make sure we’re strong enough to handle the breathers.” My mom explained.
“Well, you can’t do anything about it, what’s important now is that you catch up with what’s on this time.” My mom said. “Do I have to go outdoors?” I asked. “Yes, and our butler, Marcus, will accompany you throughout the city.” My mom said.
We headed outside the house and went to the city to start “CATCHING UP”.
It’s been a while since I saw a human. Our house is just usually filled with Vampires or Witches and Wizards. There’s some tall buildings now, and the lights are just too bright. There’s so many improvements.
“Pardon my lack of knowledge about this mechanism, but what is this?” I asked my butler/guard. “That’s your cellphone, sire.” He responded. “Cellphone? What is that? Is that an equipment of magic?” I asked. “No, sire. It’s used for communicating with someone who’s not with you at the moment.” He answered. “So basically, you can call out dead people using this thing? Well, I think the human race really progressed.” I said. “No, sire. Only people who are on this side of the plane.” He responded again. “So how do I use this to converse with mother?” I asked. “The number of your mother is saved on the phone. Please try using it, so that you would get used to it.”
“So, how old are you?” I asked again. “I was turned when I was 16 but I’m actually 18 now, sire. Our Family have been serving your family for 78 years.” He replied.
This is my Butler/Guard, Flynn. He’s a vampire.
“You can stop addressing me as ‘sire’. We’re almost at the same age, addressing me like so, makes me feel uncomfortable and utterly old. We can even be friends.” I said.
“But that would be disrespectful, sire. I want to be friends with you but that would be disgraceful.” He responded.
“That’s rubbish. You do as I say.” I exclaimed.
“Yes, Mikael.” – he answered and smiled.
A week later…
“Sire.. I mean, Mikael. This will be the school that we’ll be attending.” He stated. “I am a 129 years old vampire witch, remind me why I need to attend a school full of humans?” I asked. “It’s compulsory. We need to attend school but no worries, we can just compel our professors to give us good grades, if that’s what you fear, sire. I mean Mikael.” He answered. “I am not in any way bothered by the fact that I might get low grades for I know that I am far more intelligent than an average human or even for a vampire. I just don’t like the idea that I will be exposed to a lot of people and we have no guarantee that I will be safe because the Breathers are still right around my tail.” I answered. “It’s for your mother’s best interest, sire. You must follow orders like me.” He answered again. “Fine. But tell mother that I do not like wearing uniforms.” I said and slowly walked away.
“Wait! Sire, where are you going? You must never be without me! It’s my job to guard you!” He shouted. “I’m just going to look for a dark room where I can quietly dwell in. I’d rather sleep than walk into some weird classroom with this generation’s teenagers.” I answered.
I was walking around these quiet halls, I have to admit, humans certainly have an aptitude for architecture and design, the school looks exquisite and the designs inside the rooms are quite remarkable. That’s a huge human development, a hundred years ago; they couldn’t even pick the right colors that complement the attributes of their houses. Alas, I’ve found a quite dark room!
“Hello?! Pardon my intrusion but, is anyone here?” I shouted inside the room.
Then, someone shouted back. Someone unexpected.
