Chapter 4-Part 2 Jacob

FUCK! FUCK! FUCK! I screamed until my voice gave out. Max...Maxwell's gone. I ran back to the house in a fit of rage. Sam yelled, "What the fuck happened Jake?!". I was pacing and pacing across the floor, trying to reel in my emotions. "I...I lost Max". Everything got quiet in the house. No one said a word, and you could only hear the sounds of nature outside. "A group of bastards incapacitated me, and they snatched Maxwell out of my sight". My hands were clenched, my body was trembling, and all of my thoughts were shaky. Sam just looked at me with shock and...fear. As long as I have known him, I've never seen him...afraid.

My tears felt like acid as they fell down my cheeks and down the sides of my jaw. I never felt so stupid, I shouldn't have taken him out with me. All I remember was that he was laughing and smiling with me, then the next second he screamed my name for help. And I was unprepared, and they caught us by surprise. Sam finally said to me, "Jake. We talked about this. You did nothing wrong. They picked the wrong fight. We'll find Maxwell. Then we'll tear those newborns and Victoria apart". The pack rallied underneath Sam's words.

Sam said, "Jared. Embry. Scout the woods with Jake. Go back to the area where Maxwell was abducted. His scent could still be traced". Jared and Embry were pissed, Max's like a sibling to those two. Emily was crying and Sam comforted her. Paul was angry and barely said a word. Quil was lost in thought. Leah and Seth, and Collin were stunned by the situation. Jared replied and said, "Let's find him". Embry said, "I want my brother home".

Sam said, "The rest of you, do your patrols and be careful. If you find a vampire on our turf, bring them to me. Maybe one could tell us where Maxwell is. The rest of you, dismissed". Everyone went into full action by that point.

I was on my way out the door with Jared and Embry, but Sam called me back. "Jacob. Maxwell is strong. He may not be a wolf like us, but his heart and willpower are as fearsome as we are". He clasped both of my shoulders and says, "I take full responsibility for this situation. Maxwell is a Uley, plain and simple. We will find our member and we will bring him home". He hugged me tightly and I just exhaled the rest of my emotions. I feared that I may never see him again. Victoria or Riley could've killed him to spite us or worse-turn him.

I could feel the wolf inside me wanting to break out and tear at their flesh. I said, "You know Sam. I will do everything I can to save him". Sam pleaded in his voice, "Don't kill yourself while trying to do so. I want you all to come home. You hear me?". I nodded and then Sam gave me an idea. "Call the Cullens. Bella should know what has happened as well. We could use their help in the search of Maxwell".

I was shocked that Sam said this. I was going to call them anyway, but I understood why. We are all in this together, and I gave Bella a call. "Jake?", she said in her sweet tone. I could barely say it without crying. I pushed the words out in a quiet sob, "M-Max was taken by the newborns". Bella screamed and I heard the phone drop on the floor. I heard her cry, and then I heard the vibrations of the phone being picked up. I said, "The Uleys want the Cullens to help. Please...help us...help me. Help Maxwell". Bella said, "We will help. Edward will help".

At this point, with all my past resentments towards him being with Bella has washed away. If he's willing to help us find Maxwell, I'll put everything behind me. This situation is bigger than prior insults and bitterness. I said, "Tell Edward...tell him I and the Uley pack would approve if he and the Cullens helped". Bella said, "Okay". We both hung up.

Soon after me, Jared and Embry were in our wolf forms, and we went through the woods. I trampled on any patch of grass, twigs, pebbles, and stones. My mind was in full tunnel-vision and all I could see was Max. Him not being with me, close to me, his voice, his laughter, his smile, his....his everything...I felt like I was going insane.
