Gracie looked at the clock once more before anxiously biting her nails.
You should've been home by now.
Gracie tries not to worry too much when you're not on time but it's been over an hour now and she hasn't even heard from you yet.
You won't answer her calls, they just keep going to voicemail.
She's trying so hard not to panic but her mind is wandering and she's starting to feel the anxiety grow stronger as she watches the time pass by.
Just as she picked up her phone to try calling you again, she noticed your name at the top of the screen and she picked it up right away.
"Y/N? Oh, thank god, you're okay. I was freaking out! Where are you?"
"Is this Gracie?"
The voice didn't sound at all like yours.
She stood up from the sofa and tangled her fingers in her hair as her heart dropped.
Something was wrong, very wrong, and she was terrified.
"Yes. Why?"
"You're the emergency contact on Y/N's phone."
"I know. She's my girlfriend."
"Y/N was in an accident tonight."
Those words were by far the scariest she'd ever heard someone say to her.
"What? Is she okay? What hospital is she in?"
"I'm one of the nurses here at the hospital. She's got a few injuries but nothing too bad and she will be okay."
It felt like the weight of the world lifted from Gracie's shoulders.
She let out a heavy breath as the relief she felt from those few words overwhelmed her.
"Oh, thank you so much for telling me that. What hospital is she at? I'll be right there to be with her!"
The nurse told her the name of the hospital before Gracie ended the call, promising that she'd be there as soon as she could.
She hurried there and then rushed through the sliding doors.
She ran to the front desk and as soon as the nurse there slid the window open, she quickly rambled about how she was there for you.
"Someone called me a few minutes ago and said my girlfriend Y/N was in an accident. Where is she? Is she still doing alright? Can I go see her? I can go see her, right?"
The nurse was just about to answer when a doctor came through the doors and the nurse quickly got her attention.
"She's here for Y/N, that's her girlfriend." The nurse said.
The doctor came over to Gracie and had her sit down, which made her worry that something had gone wrong in just those few minutes.
"Your girlfriend is going to be okay but she's got a few injuries. She's got whiplash, a few broken bones, some cuts on her body, and she has a concussion."
"That's it though? I mean, we can get through all of that. I'll take good care of her. All I need to make sure is that she's alright."
"She's alright." The doctor assured her. "I'll even take you back to see her. She's awake and she's doing well but I want her to stay here for a night or two at least."
"That's perfectly okay. I can stay here with her though, correct?" Gracie asked.
The doctor turned and looked at her before nodding, knowing that there was no way she'd be able to get her to leave your side anyway.
The doctor led her to a room before opening the door.
"Y/N, look who's here." The doctor grinned.
You rubbed your eyes and looked over to see Gracie running to you.
"Gracie, baby!"
She threw her arms around you, only for you to groan.
"Ouch,"
"I'm sorry, baby. I'm so sorry." She quickly apologized before kissing your face. "I'm so happy you're okay. I was so scared when you didn't come home and then getting the call that you were in an accident terrified me."
She sat on the chair beside your bed and brought your hand to her lips as a couple of tears fell from her eyes, which you reached over to wipe away.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you."
"It's okay, you don't need to say sorry. All that matters to me is that you're okay."
She kissed your forehead softly and you closed your eyes at the feeling.
You haven't told her just how scared you were too.
Getting into an accident is a terrifying thing and even though you feel lucky that you only have a few injuries that can heal with a little TLC, you still feel the anxiety each time you think back to the car that came out of nowhere and crashed into yours.
They say the person that hit you was drunk driving which wasn't very surprising but still extremely scary.
"I feel much better now that I have you here with me." You said. "I was so scared."
"I know, baby." She whispered and brushed her fingers through your hair. "It's all going to be okay though because you're safe. You'll heal up in no time, you know I'll take good care of you."
"I know." You tiredly spoke and leaned into her touch as she gently caressed your cheek. "I love you so much."
"I love you too. I'm here with you now, everything's going to be okay. I promise."
