Calliope Cooper was turned in at only twelve years old and she was locked up for being a second born child. At seventeen she is sent down to earth along with 99 other delinquents and a guard leaving her best friend up at the Ark. Will she be able to...
Miller climbs up the ladder, Cal behind him. "Did you talk to the Ark?" Bellamy asks the boy as Cal sits down on the floor right next to the Grounder.
"I told Diggs mom the news, John's dad." Miller responds. "I'm supposed to talk to Roma's parents later."
"Thanks for doing that. I owe you."
She whispers to the Grounder and he looks down at her as she talks. "He shot the chancellor. He's afraid Jaha will do something."
"Telling all these parents that their kids were murdered by Grounders," Miller says, "I just wish I could say we were getting some justice."
"We're not killing him." Bellamy responds.
Miller grabs some nuts on the table and turns to the tied up grounder. "You were a lot scarier when you had that face paint on." He smashes the nuts on his face, making the juices come out.
Cal was about to say something when the grounder hit his head against Miller's, making sure he didn't fall on Cal, and she snorts. "Nice one. He deserved that. He's been a dick lately." The Grounder laughs a little, but only to where Cal can hear.

Cal sits beside the grounder when the hatch opens. "Cal, food." Monty throws her some rations, and she catches it. He stares at the Grounder as Cal opens the bag and starts eating. "Why are you sitting so close to him?"
"Because I like him, Mont. He's nice."
"How would you know? He doesn't even speak."
"Exactly. You don't know if he's mean either." Monty looks at her. "What?" She asks, as she puts a nut in her mouth. "I thought the same thing about you. Look how that turned out."
"Yeah, but he's a Grounder."
"And you're a criminal."
Monty cocks his head at her. "So are you."
"Only because I was born." She pauses. "And because I killed someone, but that was their fault, they put me in the skybox where people could rape me. I just defended myself."
"And you got put in solitary because of it."
Cal shrugs, popping another nut in her mouth. "It made me think."
"About what?" Monty asks as he climbs up and stands by the ladder.
"How horrible my mother was."
"We all knew that."
Cal shrugs. "It's the truth. I had time to process what she did to me. She wasn't a good mother and I don't think she ever will be. I just hope she's at least a little better to her own child."
"You are her child, Cal. She raised you."
Cal scoffs. "No, she was the one who gave me a roof over my head. I had to take care of myself. At least my father actually cared." She stands up. "I knew since I was four that she wasn't my real mother. She was just the one who abused me, took my rations. She's the reason I fight for my life everyday even before we got sent down here. Raven, Finn, and my father were the ones who cared. That's why I can't lose Finn. And now you and Jasper and Octavia care and I can't lose any of you either. I don't know what would happen if I did. I don't know what I'd become, but I don't ever want to find out." She walks to the boy. "You don't want to see what I become when I lose someone, especially my family."
