June 2023 . . .

I thought my summer was going to be so mundane here. And I was right. My old friends were either busy with work or their families. A couple of my college friends had gotten married and had kids.

So, I found a few small projects to keep myself busy before the semester started. They were mostly remodeling townhouses. It didn't take much time to design each. But I'd visit the houses to give myself something to do.

I went back to that bar with and without Axton. She wasn't there. Maybe she lived somewhere else and she was a student. She looked about twenty-one or twenty-two, not more. She was a little young for me but I had a feeling she was more mature than her age. But then again, I didn't see her the whole summer.

Maybe someday.
