Kunikida was grumbling as he watched the white haired boy gobble down all the food served in his bowl. Dazai sat beside him, his usual nonchalant smile on his face, enjoying his Partner's annoyance.

"Dazai. Next time you want to reward Atsushi for his good work, YOU pay!" He scolded, desperately trying to knock some sense into Dazai.

Dazai remained grinning, "Oh Kuni-KEE-da-kun!~ where is your heart? the boy's working so hard~ the least you can do is treat him to the meal~"

Kunikida was fuming, and was about to yell when Atsushi's voice interrupted, "uh Kunikida-san.. you don't have to pay for all this.. I can pay for myself"

Kunikida paused, his expression softening slightly. Now he felt a little bad. He cleared his throat and adjusted his glasses, "that won't be necessary, Atushi-kun. I'm paying for this time." Dazai grinned, and before he was about to add a teasing comment, Kunikida added, "But DON'T expect this to be a regular occurrence, got it?"

Atsushi smiled appreciatively and nodded, "got it!"

For a few seconds, they continued talking, Dazai doing the most to stress the hell out of Kunikida while the poor blonde tried not to combust. However, the banter and chatter paused when Dazai's eyes noticed the boy outside the restaurant. The boy was standing near the glass next to them for quite a while now.

Dazai was sure now that the kid was staring at them. Dazai nudged Kunikida and gestured to the glass wall with his eyes. Kunikida followed the brunette's gaze and noticed the boy staring at the trio with wide eyes and open mouth.

Atsushi noticed it too, and turned to the glass. As soon as the boy realized he had been caught, he tensed up and clenched his fists. The trio found his reaction to be highly suspicious. For a while, nobody did anything. The tension in the air was palpable.

Dazai raised a hand to say something, and for some reason, the kid's first reflex was to turn his heel and begin running. As soon as the boy ran, Kunikida and Atsushi got up from their seats and ran out, chasing the boy, Dazai followed suit.

The boy ran as fast as he could, though it didn't look like the kid knew exactly where he was going, and it also looked like the boy was reacting out of sheer adrenaline rush and instinct. He looked panicked and scared as he ran, not helping his already suspicious discovery.

The kid took a left, Kunikida could immediately recognize that the route led to a dead end. Why was he running into a dead end? either he doesn't know his way around, or he's leading them into a trap. The only way Kunikida could think of was to catch the boy before he leads them into the dead end.

Kunikida took out his notebook, and scribbled down the words 'Grapple hook' on a page. He tore out the page and activated his ability.

"The Lone Poet: Grapple hook"

As soon as the hook manifested in his hands, he aimed at the boy and shot the hook. The hook latched to the back of the boy's shirt and Kunikida reeled the rope back, dragging the boy towards them. Atsushi and Dazai stopped running, panting as they watched the boy be dragged.

. . . . . . . .

(Yeon's POV)

I heard the man resembling yell 'The Lone Poet: Grapple hook' behind me, I still didn't stop running. I don't know why, my mind was not working, and my limbs were acting on pure impulse. Suddenly I felt a hook latch onto me and drag me back. I yelled, not because I was in pain, but because it felt like the only appropriate reaction to this.

It didn't even hit me that this was proof that the blonde man with the notebook and grapple hook was indeed, Doppo Kunkikida. The man grabbed me by the collar once I was in his reach. I fought against his grip, I don't even know why.

I wasn't even thinking, I was clearly having a panic attack, and if this situation went on for any longer, I would surely also have an actual mental breakdown.

"I would advice you to stop struggling." The blonde spoke, the voice is the exact same as I remember it. Why? why am I seeing a fictional character, why am I being spoken to by a fictional character? just how high am I?..

The brunette, who had finally caught his breath, spoke up, "Ah, Kunikida-kun, you're only going to make him more guarded. He won't give us any answers at this rate"

I would recognize that voice even in my sleep, I had a whole mural of Osamu Dazai in my room back at home. Kunikida sighed, probably recognizing that Dazai had a point. He let go of me, albeit hesitantly. I didn't try to run this time.
