"You know, for someone so serious i find it pretty funny that you like fantasy and romance novels so much" Angelica snickered as she fixed her gun holster, ignoring Kaeli's pointed glare in amusement.

"Watch your mouth" Kaeli snarked right back as she opened the car door and got into the driver's seat, Angelica following shortly after but sitting in the passenger side. Once both doors were locked and seat belts were put on, Kaeli started the car and pulled out of their parking spot "and im not always serious i just like getting the job done as efficiently and fast as possible" "yeah, yeah, i know" Angelica smiled and jokingly held her gloved hands up in surrender before Kaeli started swatting at her, not even looking away from the road.

"Hey! Okay i said sorry! Stop!" Angelica laughed and weakly hit back, putting her hands down the same time Kaeli tsk'd and put both of her hands on the wheel. Its silence for a few moments before Angelica speaks up again "so genuine question, what was the last novel you read? I swear you told me it was bad or something" Kaeli immediately grimaced at the mention of said story but relented, she never hid anything from Angelica they've been best friends since 3rd grade and kept that same friendship for 14 years, almost going on 15.

They went to the same elementary, middle and high school together, they lived together in a two bedroom apartment, went through training to become government agents and got the job together, there's nothing they don't know about each other.

"The way the author handled the characters pissed me off" Kaeli started to explain as she steered the car right "it got popular because it was new and interesting and didn't follow the same formula as those other fantasy novels" "really? What was it about?" Angelica asked, actually intrigued by the information Kaeli was providing "Main starters, main character was a boy and it wasn't even a romance, i think their might have been some implied romance undertone's with a few characters but those weren't the focus" "oh, that actually sounds different then what you usually read"

"It was! And i liked it because It was cute and it was more about family than annoying stereotypical love tropes and then they completely fumbled with the minor antagonist!" Kaeli groaned the more she thought about it, truthfully speaking Kaeli loved herself a good antagonist. wither they were sympathetic, tragic or just generally evil because they could be but the two villains, if one could even be called that in 'The Commoners Jeweled Secret' pissed her off to no end.

The crown prince Xavier and the dark magician who she can never remember the name of were the book's villains but on different scales. Xavier was the male equivalent of a villainess, he stands in the main characters way, he belittles, bullies and constantly puts him down but instead competing for a male leads love, they were both competing for the king's attention and the throne. And the thing is, Kaeli thought the crown prince was completely justified in not liking the main character, imagine a person who's supposed to be blood related to you and your somewhat deadbeat dad starts showing them more affection then he does with you, your own older brother starts to slowly but surely replace you with him and your older sister says she loves you and supports you but does nothing to actively stop the situation.
