POV: Nyx

We've been here for one night, and we've came to a decision. We didn't want to go back to the virus or The Creator. Even though we didn't know much about this time period, Ajax and Axel offered to help us. Besides it was certainly safer than whatever future we came from.

We were sleeping on makeshift mattresses that they set up for us, before Ajax's parents came home.

We heard footsteps coming from the stairs, and I leaped up from the couch, frightened that someone found us.

"Nyx, Amber, Talia, you guy's awake?" Ajax whispered, while coming down from the stairs. I breathe a sigh of relief. It was only him.

"I'm awake, but their asleep." I say, hushed. "Oh hey Nyx." he mumbles, sitting on one of the bean bags near the TV.

"Nyx, uh I have to go to school in a couple hours." "School? What's school?" I ask, puzzled.

"You don't know what school is?"

"I've been captured and held hostage for 15 years, never able to leave so forgive me for not knowing basic daily routines." I whisper ominously.

"I-I'm sorry, I didn't thi-" "That's just right!" I hiss. "You didn't think."

Silence.

"Nyx I'm sorry, that was inconsiderate of me."

"I-it's fine."

"But-"

"Forget IT."

I look over, to the sound of rustling blankets. Amber was slowly waking up, and Talia was still out cold.

"Nyx where are we, this doesn't look like the lab." Amber murmurs uncomfortably.

I sit down next to her, rubbing her back.

"Amber, we're not IN the lab anymore, remember?"

Her eyes widen with realization.

"Right sorry." she whispers. "Oh, hey Ajax, where's Axel?"

"He's gone home last night before my parents came."

Suddenly, we hear footsteps up above. A female voice speaks from the top of the stairs. "Ajax, are you ready? You'll miss the bus."

He rolls his eyes, and calls back. "Mom it's FINE, I'll drive there!"

"Should I come down?" she asks, in a worried tone. "Everything okay?"

Me and Amber shake our heads together vigorously, but he already got the message.

"It's fine I'm coming!"

"Okay hurry up!"

She leaves.

I turn to Ajax. "Listen, you have to tell her eventually or we'll have to leave!" "I don't want her coming down here not knowing we're here, it's too much of a risk!"

He bites his lip, but nods. "Tell Talia, me and Axel'll come back tonight, and check on you guys. Don't worry we'll tell my mom why you're here and where you came from sooner or later."

Amber sits up, alarm in her eyes.

"Where ya going for the whole day?" she asks urgently.

"School." he mutters. "It's where kid's go almost every day to learn."

"Interesting..."

"Trust me it's not interesting. It's all pretty useless to tell you the truth."

...

"Right, see ya guy's later."

And as he heads upstairs, I realized with a sickening jolt that even if we wanted to go back, we didn't know how.
