I turn Grace onto her side, and I hold her head in my hand to keep her from injuring it more than it already is. This cannot be happening again. People begin to crowd around as a mixture of gasps and screams fills the air. I begin to count, keeping a mental timer of the length of her seizure. As I hold Grace's head in my arms, Fawn and my brother push through the group around us and sit at her side. Fawn screams at that sight. Screaming for someone to call 911. All I can do is stare at her, seizing painfully on the ground. I did this. She might be the most infuriating person on this planet, but I never meant to hurt her.
"What's the address?!" Fawn is screaming frantically with her phone up to her ear, looking around for someone to answer her question.
"1736 Maurberry Lane." I tell her, my eyes never leaving the girl lying in front of me. I feel my hand holding her head become sticky and warm as a large amount of blood seeps from the gash on the back of her head. I need to stop the bleeding.
"Alex, grab me one of the unopened bottles of vodka from the kitchen." I command and he doesn't hesitate before standing and sprinting towards the kitchen, pushing through the crowd around us as fast as possible.
I rip my shirt of and tear it down the middle, making one long line of fabric. Alex comes hurdling back towards me and frantically hands me the bottle. I shift her head, so it is laying on my outstretched leg and I open the bottle and pour it all over what used to be my shirt. After making sure it is thoroughly soaked, I press it against the gash and press firmly, slowing the bleeding slightly. EMT's need to get here fast, I don't have the materials with me right now to keep her stable, and she still has not stopped seizing. I begin to really worry as my mental clock hits 4 minutes. If it lasts much longer, she will have a major risk of brain damage.
After a few minutes that felt like hours, the violent surges finally began to ease. Her body still pulled tightly into itself as I began to hear sirens driving down the street and pull into the driveway. As they rush into the room, they instantly move into action. I watch as they immediately pull out a small bottle that I recognized as Narcan and spray it into one of her nostrils, almost instantly bringing her seizures to a stop, causing her muscles to relax as her body falls limp.
After clearing out the room, leaving only Fawn, my brother, and I with three paramedics who are strapping Grace's unconscious body to a gurney and bringing her out to the ambulance. We all follow behind silently as they load her up. I hop into the ambulance with them before anyone has the chance to question it and close the doors behind me. I did this. I need to make sure she's okay.

Grace's POV
My head is pounding. A throbbing, piercing pain radiating from the back of my head. I peel my heavy eyes open and immediately shut them from the bright lights that send a new wave of pain through my head. Someone turns the light off, allowing me to finally open my eyes completely. I feel something wrapped tightly around my head, adding even more pressure to my already painful headache.
I reach up to touch my head as someone grabs my arm, stopping it just before I make contact. I finally realize there's someone else in the room with me. I see Corvin looking at me with a hard look on his face. He releases my arm and grabs a book that is attached to my bed, reading the contents inside of it. He looks up at me momentarily.
"Don't touch your head, you don't want bacteria from your hands to get in your wound." He says monotone.
"Did I actually fall down the stairs or was that a dream?" Please tell me it was a dream because that is so embarrassing.
"It wasn't a dream." Okay, great. God, you can take me back now...please?
"And you didn't fall. I pushed you, but I didn't mean to. I'm so sorry. I know we don't get along, but I swear to you, I didn't mean to hurt you." He says with a pleading look on his face.
"You didn't push me. I lost my balance when you let go of my arm. It wasn't your fault." I can't believe he thought this was his fault.
"Oh." That's all he said, but I could see the relief that crossed over his face. His shoulders untensing as if a physical weight was lifted off of them.
Just as I was about to ask how bad it was, a doctor walked in. A woman, looking to be somewhere in her mid 40's.
"I'm glad to see you're awake London, you had a nasty spill." I'm immediately taken aback. I haven't been called that since the day I moved out.
"It's Grace." I say kind of rudely, noting Corvin's presence still in the room, next to the bed listening intently. Great.
"Oh yes, I apologize, I do remember your friend telling me you prefer to be called Grace. Anyways, the fall you took caused a major fracture in the back of your skull. The injury caused some swelling of your brain, however, during surgery we were able to control the swelling and repair the damaged bones. We will need to keep you for observation over the next few days to ensure the swelling does not reoccur." She turns to Corvin. "The swelling of her brain is most likely the cause of her seizure after the fall."
"Wait. Seizure?! I had a seizure?" I cut in. That's even more embarrassing, in front of everyone??
"Yes, but don't be too alarmed, while it is uncommon, we identified the root cause and got it under control before more damage could be done." She gives me a reassuring smile. "Well, I have some more rounds to make, but is there anything I can do for you before I go?"
"No ma'am. Thank you."
"Of course. A nurse should be bringing you lunch in a little while. Try to get some rest until then, okay?"
"Okay." I reply as she leaves the room. Once again, leaving me and Corvin alone.
There's an awkward silence. I search desperately for something to say in order to break it.
"Um, thanks for staying with me. Can't say that I'm not surprised to see you at my bedside and not Fawn."
"They weren't allowing you visitors because of your condition." He says with the same bored tone.
"But you're a visitor, are you not?"
"I'm a med student, and I volunteer here five days a week." Wow. I did not expect that.
"Oh, that's really impressive whe-"
"Look, I'm only here because I wanted to make sure you were okay and now that I know that you are, I'm leaving. Get some rest." With that he walks out of the room without another word. I give up. He's honestly one of the rudest people I've ever met.
I roll my eyes and sigh in annoyance, but it sends another sharp pain through my head. I decided to take the doctor's advice and get some sleep. Closing my eyes, I think about my next few days here. Stuck. Once again, I am stuck somewhere that I don't want to be. That's how my life always goes. Haunted by nightmares, keeping me stuck at fifteen years old in that bedroom. Being a college student with bills to pay keeps me stuck in an endless routine. And now my unfortunate luck is keeping me stuck in this room. I just want to be free.
