I couldn't fall asleep. I was too excited, and I kept overthinking everything. It was the night before we were supposed to set off for Hogwarts. I could see the sun rising over the horizon, the sun playing peek-a-boo with my curtains, and I knew it was only a matter of time before I had to get ready for the day.

I spent the rest of the summer reading through all of my books until I had them memorised; I didn't want to miss anything, as well as practising writing with a quill before it looked like my handwriting again as opposed to chicken scratch. And this chance—it was something that I didn't want to waste. I knew my goal was to save people and make this world safe for Harry, my future nephew. It's going to be so awkward walking past James and Lilly and just knowing that.

I also wanted to make sure I made a life for myself here. I don't know why I was brought here or if it was some cosmic mistake where being reborn is real, and they simply forgot to wipe my memories, but that doesn't explain being in an entirely new universe or sent back in time.

Whatever the reason was, I wanted a life this time. A real one. Not like the one I had before, where I was a people-pleaser, and my entire existence boiled down to my eidetic memory. I wanted friends and family, and I would do whatever it took to protect them-

"AHHHHHH!" The last vestiges of sleep are violently stripped away as my sister comes barreling into my room and jumping on top of me. "I'm so excited! It's finally here, can you believe it?"

"What I can't believe is how you have such strong lungs", I reprimanded Lilly while pushing her off me. I disliked being touched at the best of times, but early in the morning, as I'm waking, I loathe it. I'd throttle her, but that would include touching her. Sliding out of bed, I put on my dressing gown heading to the bathroom.

"I'm sorry, Daisy, but come on, it's finally here. I'm so excited to see which house you're going to be in. I mean, it has to be Gryffindor, but you're so smart, so maybe Ravenclaw, oh I know, perhaps...." Lilly continues talking while following me to the bathroom. I was about to open the door when there was a loud bang from behind.

Turning around, I see Petunia. It looks like she just slammed her door, cutting Lilly off.

"Of course", Petunia mocks "If it isn't the resident freaks. If you're going to talk about that 'special' school of yours, at least have the decency to not wake anyone up!" Marching down the stairs, Petunia continues to mutter under her breath. I turn to Lilly, who has a frown on her face.

"Let me get ready, and then we can talk about the houses, Lilly," I tell her before I'm about to close the bathroom door, she stops me with a hand on the door. She must see the confused look on my face and begins explaining.

"I- just... well, you always said to probably not talk about it in front of her... so- why would you now?" She's fair in questioning me. Usually, I would have kept quiet, but just thinking about how we have to hide a part of ourselves in our own home...it was something I promised myself I would never do again.

"We don't deserve to have to hide a part of ourselves. I thought not mentioning it would help, but it hasn't, so I won't carry on giving her that curtsey if she can't fully appreciate it" I stare into her eyes, the same as my green ones, and see her finally accept that there wasn't much we could do. Nodding her head, Lilly leaves with a smile on her face.

I stand under the shower, letting the warm water wash away all of the apprehension I have of today. Washing my hair with my vanilla shampoo and conditioner, I realise I may have to cut it, it reaches down to my waist, and in the summers, having to dry it with no magic would take up a lot of my time.

After brushing my teeth and cleaning my face, I finally decided to pick out what to wear. The sun shines through the curtains even more brightly now. However, clouds cover the sky, taking some of the sun's warmth.
