Anything Giselle Ruby did to please her parents ended in failure. Good grades? She got a 100 but she missed the extra credit, she could've done better. Best on her sports team? She almost dropped the ball once, meaning she can be better. Her rebellion started when she joined the military, against her parents' wishes, and went MIA. She returned after going missing, though everyone thinks she's still gone, and started the world's largest underground gang.
Kora Thunder strived to be the best for no other reason other than to be amazing. She loved the feeling of being told she was the greatest, the words were addictive to her mind. She graduated high school with all A's and went on to join the police. She worked hard to become the best, while also trying to help as many people as possible.
You could imagine how strange it must've been for Giselle, going by "Artemis" to hide her identity, when Kora's parents approached her to propose an arranged marriage. "Artemis" was one of the wealthiest women in Texas, and Kora's parents were big time ranchers, having connections all over the hierarchy. If anything, the marriage would have little to no drawbacks, besides forcing "Artemis" to stop seeing her side chicks. When Kora found out about the marriage, the papers had already been signed and the date set; Kora and "Artemis" were set to be married by the end of summer.
