In the midst of the crowd, the ginger tom sat on the rock, his chest held up high. He hoped that his fiery ancestors would see him in a new light.
Rusty'claw was excited. It was strange coming from how the gathering was hosted early to honor Web'star's death. But he didn't care. He was just there for the new prophecy. Now that the leader's prophecy had failed, it was only up to SunClan to define his destiny, and maybe he'll become just like his great ancestor. Firestar.
He sat with his brother, Yellow'petal. Cherry'fang was nowhere to be found. It was odd for his brother since he was used to seeing her. "Where is she?" He whispered on his brother's ear. The crowd was murmuring like crazy, so the two could barely hear each other from the packed island in the middle of the lake. Rusty'claw heard his brother's words and rolled his eyes. "She's probably with her kin. I'm surprised they even care that much for her."
"I mean, they're family. Like us." Yellow'petal's eyes glance at the BlazeClan leader and his two sisters sitting on the rocks together. For some reason, seeing the small little family almost made him feel jealous. "Yeah, right. A good, healthy family." He glared. "Something that mother finds it hard to be." He murmured. His lack of worry for his own mother gave a sour taste to Yellow'petal. He seems that he hasn't taken everything well after what happened. "You should at least reconcile with mother instead of worrying about our history. Pride will be your downfall before you even know it."
"Webs had spun in your brains if you think I'm choosing other things instead of family. I live and fight with honor. Our flames won't die out any longer. Be glad that I even care to sit with you today." The ginger tom snarled, leaving Yellow'petal hopeless to ever change his brother's mind. he turned around to stare at the leaders watching over the clans, the sun beaming down the island, sensing the brothers observing the gathering.
Meanwhile, Sunflower was trying hard to follow Onyx'foot who was trying to find Monty. He kept constantly bumping onto other cats, receiving aggravated responses and hissing that caused his social anxiety to grow.
Hey! Watch it!
Out of the way, stripes!
Excuse you!
He heard it all, his lean form shriveled up in size. He was still too sensitive to be out in the wild. And that is what made him fear for something to happen. To cool his mind, he asks this: "Hey, Onyx'foot...? Who's Monty?" He whispered to the Bengal tom. Onyx'foot stopped and turned around at Sunflower before spotting the brown tom. "He's that one loner who lives in TerraClan's forest. He's not really a rule follower, nor does he really deem himself as a warrior or a hero. It's strange that he thinks it's... narcissistic."
Narciss- what!?
Sunflower just stood there, confused on that word the warrior had said. He didn't want to ask, though. That was personal. "Now, catch on! We can't wait!" Onyx'foot yelled. Sunflower mumbled, feeling annoyed of how fast the warrior was. He could barely catch on. Out of nowhere, he accidentally bumped into a kit and stepped on his paw. The kit mewled and hissed at the Softpaw. "Watch it!" The feisty kit clawed the dirt. His eyes glared at the tom.
"Oh no! I'm sorry, little one!" The black tom apologized; he nudged his nose against the kit's paw. "You better be! Dirt-face!" The tom-kit tried scratching his nose with his tiny claws. His mother quickly shoved him away, scolding him. "Language!" The torbie she-cat snarled at him. The kit's immediate response was to run alongside his sister, who was interacting, amused the black tom.
The torbie led out an exhausted breath. She turned around at Sunflower. "I apologize for that. He's a pain." She bowed her head at him, the black tom didn't mind, though. The kits were very cute to see. "He's fine. Your kits are adorable... by the way." He said, staring down at the kits who were hiding under their mother. "Thank you, their names are Ember'kit and Amber'kit." Said the mother torbie, her snout nudging the two of them. "Heh... what?" Sunflower tilt his head to the other side, his expression confused of the names. What did she say?
