The Realization
Later that evening, the team was gathered in the office, still trying to piece together the puzzle of Fyodor's movements when an unexpected message arrived.
Ranpo had just returned from gathering information when the phone on Fukuzawa's desk buzzed. He answered it, his usual calm composure barely flickering as he listened to the voice on the other end. But his expression shifted subtly—just enough for the rest of the agency to notice.
"What is it?" Kunikida asked urgently, the others now fully alert.
Fukuzawa hung up the phone and took a moment before speaking. "We've found something. Fyodor has been spotted. A new location—an isolated mansion on the outskirts."
Chuuya straightened up, eyes narrowing. "Then what the hell are we waiting for? Let's go get him."
Fukuzawa nodded, but there was a heaviness in the room. Something unspoken. Ranpo, who had been watching silently, finally spoke, his voice uncharacteristically grim.
"It's not just about getting Dazai back," Ranpo said quietly. "It's about what Fyodor has already done to him."
