Tayo's inner turmoil deepened as he grappled with the weight of his family's expectations. The arranged marriage to Amaka, a union forged to solidify business ties, now felt suffocating. In a desperate bid for clarity, Tayo sought solitude in the city's quiet streets. The cool night air did little to calm his racing thoughts.
As he walked, the sounds of the city gave way to the haunting memory of Nneoma's words: "Choose now, Tayo. Me or Amaka."
Nneoma's face lingered in his mind – her piercing gaze, her captivating smile. The connection they shared was undeniable.
Suddenly, the city lights blurred, and Tayo found himself standing before Nneoma's apartment. The doorman's curious glance didn't deter him.
With a resolute breath, Tayo stepped inside.
Nneoma's door swung open, revealing her poised figure. The soft glow of the apartment highlighted the contours of her face.
"Tayo," she whispered, her voice laced with a mix of surprise and wariness.
"I've come to make things right," Tayo declared, his voice firm.
Nneoma's eyes narrowed. "What does that mean?"
Tayo's gaze locked onto hers. "It means I choose you, Nneoma. I choose us."
The air thickened with tension as Nneoma's expression shifted, her eyes searching for sincerity.
"Prove it," she challenged, her voice barely above a whisper.
Tayo's heart pounded. He knew the stakes were high, but he was ready to risk everything.
"I'll do whatever it takes," he vowed.
Nneoma's gaze lingered, then she stepped aside, inviting him in.
As Tayo entered, the door creaked shut behind him, sealing their fate.
Nneoma's eyes never left Tayo's as she led him to the living room. The air was thick with tension.
"Sit," she commanded, her voice firm.
Tayo obeyed, his eyes locked on hers.
Nneoma paced, her heels clicking on the marble floor.
"I want to believe you, Tayo. But I need to know you're all in."
Tayo rose, his presence commanding.
"I am," he declared, his voice resolute. "I'll end things with Amaka. I'll face my family."
Nneoma's gaze searched his, seeking sincerity.
"Prove it," she repeated.
Tayo pulled out his phone and dialed.
"Amaka," he said, his voice firm. "It's over."
The room fell silent.
Amaka's shrill voice echoed through the speaker.
"You'll regret this, Tayo!"
Tayo ended the call.
Nneoma's eyes softened.
"Come here," she whispered.
Tayo's heart pounded as he wrapped his arms around her.
Their lips met in a fiery kiss.
The world outside melted away.
Only they existed.
But their bliss was short-lived.
A knock on the door shattered the silence.
"Nneoma, it's Ebere," her friend called out.
Nneoma's eyes locked onto Tayo's.
