I regretted my little show in the shower the moment I stepped out of the bathroom to find the room empty.
Great work, Jeonghan. I scowled as I dried myself roughly and shoved some clean clothes on. Way to weird a guy out.
I hadn't gone into the shower planning to knock one out, knowing that Seungcheol'd be able to hear me through the thin wall. But after a few minutes under the hot water, my imagination got away from me. Flashes of memories from the past few days flicked through my mind like a movie reel. The concentration on his face as he peered at his cards. His eyes lighting up whenever I snarked at him. How he pushed me against the car as he roared his frustration at me. The feel of his hands dragging me closer in the tent.
Before I knew it, I'd squirted the complimentary conditioner into my hand and used it to slick my shaft. Initially, I'd bitten my lip to keep the sounds in. But the further down the path I travelled, the bolder I got.
I couldn't forget that Seungcheol was only feet away. My hand moved faster, chasing the high it knew was coming, even while I wished Seungcheol would hear me. That he'd come bursting in and take over. Force me to my knees to choke on his cock, so desperate for me he wouldn't even shed his clothes first.
I came with his name on my lips. It only took a few panting breaths for reality to hit.
Seungcheol hadn't come in.
Yet he'd definitely heard me.
Way to make it awkward, Jeonghan.
What was wrong with me recently? My self-control wasn't usually great, but it was better than this. Being around Seungcheol seemed to make me lose all sense of reason.
I paced the room, waiting for him to return. I needed to apologise, obviously. The last thing I'd wanted to do was make him feel uncomfortable.
When several minutes had passed with no sign of him, I began to get antsy. Something was pulling at me to go find him, to confront this issue before it built into a whole big thing.
After checking the bar and restaurant and coming up empty, I made a beeline for the outdoors. Fortunately, the storm had passed, the locals already returning to their normal daily activities. Thank fuck for that. It was killing me being so close to Blaise and having him out of reach. I'd been tempted to accept Seungcheol's offer to fly us over. Once he discovered the truth, though, he'd no doubt leave us stranded.
If Blaise needed to see a healer, we needed to be on the mainland. Ideally, with access to a car.
So I'd reluctantly agreed to yet another delay. The great thing about being a water mage is I could control the rain.
What I couldn't control was the wind. Given that was the thing stopping the boats from crossing, I'd had no choice but to ride it out.
I lingered for a split second, looking between the crowded high street and the dense woodland. There was only one Seungcheol would choose.
My concern grew as I walked into the woods. The ground was wet and boggy, not suited for a long walk. Yet Seungcheol had been gone for a while.
That's when I heard it.
Snarls.
Yelps.
Seungcheol screaming.
I didn't think.
I just ran.
I wasn't as fast as a demon, but I seemed to fly over the distance like I'd grown wings. My heart nearly stopped at what I found.
Seungcheol was on the ground, barely visible under the attacking wolves. I couldn't even count how many, their furs blurring as they snarled and ripped at Seungcheol.
