CPN; What is it?

Cell phone novels, or mobile phone novels (Japanese: 携帯小説, Hepburn: keitai shōsetsu, Chinese: 手機小說; pinyin: shǒujī xiǎoshuō), were literary works originally written on a cellular phone via text messaging. This type of literature originated in Japan, where it became a popular literary genre. However, its popularity also spread to other countries internationally, especially to China, United States, Germany, Italy and South Africa. Chapters usually consist of about 70–100 words each due to character limitations on cell phones.[1]

*Due to time limit and saving the viewers time (And the fact that Wattpad is AWFUL—and likes to crash when I try to publish more than TEN CHAPTERS), we have condensed this story to ten chapters; making it easier to find where what is.*

Oliver Hartman had always found solace in the lush woods surrounding his home in Willow Creek. While other boys his age were busy playing video games or hanging out at the local skate park, Oliver preferred the company of rustling leaves and chirping birds. His parents often joked that he was part animal, with a wild spirit that refused to be tamed.

One Saturday afternoon, as the sun began its descent in the sky, casting a golden hue over the landscape, Oliver slipped out of the house with a sense of adventure bubbling inside him. He grabbed his trusty backpack, which held a few snacks, a water bottle, and a well-worn notebook filled with sketches of the animals he admired. Today felt different, as if the forest was calling him to uncover a secret it had been hiding.

Oliver ventured deeper into the woods than usual, his excitement building with each step. The air was crisp, and he inhaled deeply, savoring the earthy scent of damp soil and pine needles. As he walked, he imagined he was a famous explorer, on a quest to discover new lands. Little did he know, he was about to embark on a journey that would change his life forever.

After a while, he stumbled upon a narrow path he had never seen before, overgrown with ferns and wildflowers. Curiosity piqued, he followed the trail, the sounds of the forest growing richer and more vibrant. Birds flitted overhead, their songs blending into a beautiful symphony. He felt a thrill as he moved further away from the familiarity of home, drawn by the promise of adventure.

As he rounded a bend, Oliver found himself in a clearing bathed in sunlight. Towering oak trees encircled the glade, their branches forming a natural cathedral. In the center, resting peacefully on the grass, was a wise-looking tortoise. Its shell glistened like polished stone, adorned with swirling patterns that seemed to tell ancient tales of the earth.

"Hello there, young one," the tortoise said, its voice deep and resonant, echoing through the clearing.

Oliver's heart raced. He rubbed his eyes, half-expecting to wake from a vivid dream. "Did you just talk to me?" he gasped, taking a step back, unsure if he was losing his mind.

"Indeed, I did," the tortoise replied, his voice calm and steady. "My name is Thaddeus, and you, my boy, are quite special."

"Special?" Oliver repeated, bewildered. "How can I be special? I'm just a kid from Willow Creek."

Thaddeus smiled knowingly, his eyes twinkling like stars. "You possess a gift that few have: the ability to understand and communicate with the animals of the world. It is a rare talent, bestowed upon only a select few. But with this gift comes great responsibility."

Oliver's mind raced. He had always felt a kinship with animals, talking to his dog Max as if he understood every word. Now, it seemed his dreams were becoming reality. "What do I need to do?" he asked eagerly, his pulse quickening.
