"It's me." it was non other than dadi who had arrived from Rajasthan. (old people get up early🙂😐)
"oh dadiji" after hearing her voice I stood up and made sure to cover yuvika because she had thrown the blanket down on the floor
"Dadi.." I touched her feet "Kab ayi aap? Kisi ne bataya nhi (When did u come? Nobody told me that)
"I came yesterday, everyone said ki tum bahu k yaha Gaye the toh mile nhi hum kal tumse" (Everyone said that you went to Yuvika's (daughter-in-law's) house so I couldn't meet you) "Chalo baat karni hai tumse, muh dho kar garden mei aao" (Wash your face and come to the garden. I want to talk to you)
As soon as she said that I knew it was regarding yuvika and my sudden decision to get married because in this house the brides were chosen by my dadi itself and I somehow broke that thing.
In the garden
"Ji dadi.... Kahiye"
"Ragini told me everything about your and that girl's marriage. But I want to know more from you, agastya! What made you take such an important decision that too without asking your own parents forget about me." dadiji's question was bitter and correct
"Dadi... As you know I and kartik are best friends from school. When he met yuvika he did tell me about her and his wedding and all, and he sounded very happy but then between all those rituals that were happening he looked bored and unhappy. Even during the day he was getting married before that he called me and said he wasn't feeling positive regarding wedding but I thought it was just you know nervousness. But Dadi I never knew he would just get up from the wedding and run away and after seeing the situation of Yuvika and her family I thought it would be best for me to get married to her. Even you said that I was at my age of getting married Hainaaaaa?" that was the best explanation I could give dadi but even I don't know why I said I would marry her that day. Even I am seeking the answer to that question
"I was asking you to get married by the girl of my choice not some random girl whose husband ran away and left her agastya." I could feel the anger and disappointment in her voice"
"Dadi let bygones be bygones. I am sorry and I know I broke your heart and the tradition but I promise yuvika will behave herself and be a good daughter in law to this family"
"You said the same thing for KIARA remember and what did she do... She ran away with the gold and money"
How can I forget what Kiara (my first wife) did to me. I loved her from my whole heart but she.. She ran away not only with gold and money but with my heart too.
"Dadi forget Kiara.. I'll tame yuvika to be the perfect daughter-in-law. I'll make sure she never walks out without my permission, she will breathe when I ask her, eat when I'll eat. Dadi give her one chance please... For your chotu? Yes she calls me chotu as a nickname
"That I'll decide after I meet and talk to her personally. After breakfast tell her to come in my room and talk to me ok?"
"ok dadi I'll tell her and I love you dadi and she won't disappoint you" I gave a quick hug to Dadi and went to my room only to find out yuvika still sleeping.
Ugh after I see her my heart starts beating like hell.
"Yuvika...Yuvika.. Get up it's 5:30 get up yuvika"
"5 more minutes" she said in her sleepy voice
"No you have to get up. My dadi is here, and she wants to meet you" As soon as I said dadi she got up and started to look here and there
"dadi.. Where.. Where"
"Not now.. After breakfast she wants to meet you personally so be prepared"
"Hehh.. Areyy Priya ne kaha tha ki Woh Bohot strict hai" (Priya told me that she's very strict)
"Only if you misbehave, other than that she's a kind woman" Even I agree on that though because the whole Rajasthan fears her but I can't scare yuvika the first time. She will get to know herself.. Hehe
"Your whole family doesn't like me.. How will she?" This girl and everytime she speaks she pouts like a little child.. Uhhh
"Phele baat, my family doesn't hate you they just aren't close to you and second thing stop pouting like a baby everytime you speak understand and don't worry I'll.. I'll try to be with you when you go to meet dadi" I said without making eye contact with her"
"Sacchi?"
"Mucchi" Uhh bacchi se Shadi hui hai meri (I thought) (I'm married to a kid)
AFTER THE BREAKFAST
"dadi? May I come in?" yuvika asked permission and I too entered inside with her
"come sit and agastya you leave and close the door." I couldn't say no so I smiled and left them alone.
YUVIKA'S POV My heart started to beat like hell when she said him to leave. I thought this is the end to my married life,no no my whole actual life.
"Come, sit next to me"
"Jii dadi."
"So, do you like it here?" her voice was rough but then I could feel the calmness and worry in it
"yes I do like it" my head down and I had covered my head with the veil of my saree
"I know Ragini bahu must be little angry with you or she might not talk to you but you don't stop trying. You know everything happens for a reason, you getting married to agastya and coming and being a part of our family. I believe you have the potential to be a good daughter-in-law TO this family so mark my words girl accept this family and love it like its your own and you will thank me even after life. Understand? With that she kept her hand on my hand and patted it. After that she went to her cupboard and gifted me a gold jewelry set.
"This was for my Agastya's future wife.. Kiara had it but now it's yours and keep it carefully ok!"
