Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.

A warm, buttery scent filled the room. The walls radiated an orange-toned light that mimicked the fire from a few points in the kitchen. It was hotter than the rest of the castle. Stains were left on the floor, forever tainting the educational grounds. To the boys, each one told a story. Each holds a memory they have shared over the years.

Not many students go into the kitchens. The passkey isn't something that is general knowledge. Remus figured it out his second year, when Madam Pomfrey guided him to replenish his energy after a full moon. The kitchen was split into sections: Pastry, Butchery, Meal Prep, and Storage. Three boys were huddled around the inner right corner, near the pastry section, as each of them sat on a sack of dry ingredients.

"It was lunatic. That's what it was. You should've seen them. Her name was burnt right of the family tree. The last time they were that mad was when they heard I was sorted into Gryffindor," Sirius rambled.

"Do you know if she's alright?" Remus asked.

"I haven't heard a thing since she graduated from here. Godric the entire summer they were up my arse about family shit," the black haired boy shoved a nearby pastie into his mouth.

"You are always welcome over Sirius. Mom and Dad would love to have you again," James said, recalling the time the two boys accompanied each other during a winter break.

The door to the kitchen slowly opened, revealing a tiny figure that walked over to the boys.

"Hey Pete, didn't think you'd make it," Remus added.

"Hi, I lost my books while unpacking. They were left at the front of the castle," he said.

"Ditz," Sirius managed through chewing.

"Whore," Peter replied. "Plus, I didn't know if I should walk in while someone was staring."

"What?"

"Who?"

"Pete did you show them how to get in?" The tallest boy asked.

"Woah, I don't know. I dont think she saw? It's that new girl anyways. I doubt she even registered what I did."

"There were dozens of new first years that got sorted this year, you're going to need to be more specific than that," Sirius inputted.

"That new one that's in our year. The one we saw on the train."

"Oh, is her name Heath?" Remus asked

"The Ilvermorny transfer, yeah."

"What was the sorting hat thinking? A Serpent becoming a Gryffindor? No way," Sirius spoke.

"I'd feel so weird if I ever switched houses like that," James added.

"Maybe it was a mistake. Im sure even the hat can make those," said Remus.

"I don't really care for it," Peter sat on a sack of flour and began to eat a danish.

"I don't think it'll be that bad. My Lily flower seems to be friends with her, so I know she can't be a bad person," James began to daydream about his crush on the red head.
