Kendria quickly withdrew herself from General Torn's embrace, as if she'd suddenly been burned by his touch. She couldn't deny that she was happy to see him alive and well, but now that it was confirmed, anger bubbled up in her gut.

After Jameson passed, Zatthias made a promise to her. He swore that they would stay in contact. She didn't know what happened that made him stop coming and stop writing letters, but it hurt her deeply. The young woman even used to send word that she'd like to visit him, only to be denied.

It was frustratingly strange, how cold he'd suddenly become. But Kendria swallowed the insult and tried to put him behind her. That's why she glared at him with all her might right now and folded her arms beneath her bosom.

"What are you doing here?"

The General straightened his posture, his gaze suddenly hardened at the question. "I was invited, Lady Glacies."

"Why?"

He cocked his eyebrow and then sighed. "It seems that you have forgotten that I am a Lord as well as a General, my lady."

She didn't like it when he called her by her status endearments.

'We're supposed to be friends. What the hell is wrong with you?!'

She wanted to scream at him. In fact, the sudden need to spar with him burned inside of her. Something to get the anger out alongside some answers. But in the time, she'd taken to trip into his arms and question him, another maid disturbed them as she rushed from out of the palace.

"Pardon me, Dragon Warrior! General Torn! The King has prepared seats for you all at the table and is wondering where you are." she told them.

Kendria couldn't hide her irritation even if she wanted to. She was this close to getting away, but now she couldn't without grace. Her sisters, especially Nymeria, would be unyielding about a direct request from the King. That just made her even angrier at the General.

But when she turned to finally let him have a piece of her mind, she froze, noticing that he was even less pleased with the command. His dark eyes were thick with rage at the mention of his Majesty.

'Why? Isn't he supposed to be ridiculously loyal to Holger's every request?'

General Torn grunted and pushed past her. His heavy footsteps raised even more questions. Suddenly, Kendria to know every detail.

"Hey—"

Lilianna quickly grabbed her arm. "Come on, let's go, Ken. Before Nymeria pops a vein."

Kendria groaned, nodded, then quickly walked behind the maid as she rushed to lead them into the royal dining room.

The interior of the castle had also been developed to an alarming degree. The walls were completely remade with new gold, with the royals and the war engraved into each hallway. It was beautiful but creepy at the same time. Kendria felt like she was walking through the obsession of old, perverted fan.

King Holger gave her a reason to despise him with every step she took. She couldn't help but keep her head down as they neared the royal dining room. But once those golden doors opened, there wasn't anywhere for her to avoid the new touch.

The golden royal dining room gleamed under the soft glow of chandeliers, their light reflecting off the ornate, gilded walls adorned with intricate murals depicting her dragon form. Everyone who entered was startled. Kendria couldn't contain the look of pure horror and disgust.
