Dominic's world was always tough from the start. From his father leaving his family, to his mother becoming a drug addict. Leaving him and his older sister, who worked tirelessly to provide for them, to fend for themselves.

Football was dom's escape, his passion. The field where he felt the most alive, where he could forget the chaos that surrounded him in the violent city he called home.

That evening, after a grueling practice under the flickering lights of the run down field, dominic made his way home through the dimly lit streets. The sounds and sirens and distant shouts filled the air, a constant reminder of the dangers lurking every corner.

While walking, he passed by a older group of boys loitering outside the local convenience store, a sense of unease crept over him.

Amoung the group stood Rico, a towering figure with a scar etched across his cheek, a silent testament to the life he led.

"Hey dominic! Come over here!" Rico called out, his voice a mix of authority and camaraderie.

Dominic hesitated, knowing the reputation of Rico and his crew. Despite the warning bells ringing in his mind, he approached.

"Yo?" I said. Rico puts out his hand and dabs him up and responds, "I seen you on that field, you move like a beast. We should play sometime." He offers him a cold drink as a gesture of kindness.

"Thats wassup." I said, keeping it short. Rico laughs, "Youn gotta be nervous and tense, I know you wanna go bout ya business. I be seeing you around here alot, but ion see you at parties or anything. You move alone?"

"Yeah, Ion really be out here alot."

"Shitt, you seem cool asf. You smoke? You tryna kick it and chill?" Rico said.

Dominic hesitated for a moment, thinking about his sister waiting for him at home. He knew she counted on him, but the idea of easing up and making some friends was tempting. After a brief internal debate, he finally nodded. "Yeah, aight. Let's kick it for a bit," he said, deciding to join Rico and unwind for a while.

As they were talking, It was time for Dom to head home. While grabbing his stuff, Rico suddenly brought up his gang. "Yo, I got some homies I want you to meet. But we'll do that another time," he said, giving Dominic a knowing look. Dominic nodded, curious but not entirely sure what he was getting into.

Dom dabbed him up, and began his walk home. Once he arrived home, he opened the door and was welcomed by his sister.

Dom's sister greeted him with a stern look. "Where were you?" she asked, her voice edged with concern. "You weren't hanging with those boys from the gangs, were you?" She crossed her arms, clearly worried about the kind of crowd he might be getting involved with.

"No, I wasn't," Dom replied, knowing how much she hated those boys and the gangs. He decided to keep it a secret. "I had a long day from practice. Ion wanna hear allat shit. Goodnight," he said, brushing past her and heading to his room.

As Dom headed up to his room, his sister's anger flared even more. "Who you getting disrespectful with?" she yelled, her voice echoing up the stairs. "You better keep it respectful, Dom!" Her frustration was clear, but Dom just kept walking, trying to block out her words.

While in his room, Dom sighed and changed out of his outside clothes and laid on the bed. He felt the weight of the day lift off his shoulders as he crawled into bed, letting out a sigh of relief. Finally, he could relax and escape into sleep, excited to leave the day's troubles behind.
