Lin Yuqi woke up early, feeling a slight flutter of nervousness.

Today was the day she and Zhang Wei would go to the civil affairs office to get their marriage certificate.

She stretched, the early morning light gently filtering through the small window. It was a big day, and although she tried to remain calm, her mind kept drifting to what lay ahead.

But before anything else, she wanted to ensure that the family had a hearty breakfast. She slipped quietly out of bed, leaving Mother Xia to sleep peacefully.

In the kitchen, she decided to cook something simple yet satisfying—porridge with sweet potatoes. It was a humble dish, but it would warm everyone's stomachs and give them energy for the busy day ahead.

She quickly rinsed the rice and began boiling it, adding slices of sweet potatoes to the pot.

A slight smile touched her lips as she prepared the meal, deciding to use the slightly burnt rice at the bottom of the pot.

She had learned that the burnt bits added a subtle smoky flavor, something her modern self would have never appreciated, but here, it was a small culinary trick she had picked up.

As the porridge simmered, she glanced around to make sure no one was near, then reached into her space to retrieve a pinch of spices and a spoonful of sugar.

With a quick stir, the sweet aroma of the porridge began to fill the room.

Before finishing, she added a small amount of her spiritual spring water, knowing it would be good for everyone's health, especially the hardworking Xia family.

Just as she was about to serve the meal, Zhang Wei appeared at the doorway.

"Good morning," Zhang Wei said, stepping into the kitchen.

Lin Yuqi offered him a small smile. "Good morning. I've made porridge. Can you help me serve it?"

Zhang Wei nodded and moved to help her, ladling the thick, fragrant porridge into bowls. As they worked side by side, the house slowly came to life.

Xia Tian and the two children were the first to arrive, rubbing the sleep from their eyes.

Their tired expressions quickly changed when they saw Lin Yuqi and smelled the food.

Zhang Wei smiled softly at the sight and carried the bowls to the table.

Soon, the entire Xia family sat down, ready for breakfast. The simple porridge had filled the air with a comforting warmth, and the family eagerly began eating.

Mother Xia glanced at Zhang Wei, her face filled with curiosity. "Did you sleep well last night?" she asked.

Zhang Wei nodded. "Yes, we did. Thank you for the arrangements."

He turned to Lin Yuqi. "After breakfast, we should head to the civil affairs office. It's time to get our marriage certificate."

After cooking breakfast and ensuring everyone was well-fed, Lin Yuqi returned to her room to get ready. She picked out a simple yet elegant floral dress with sleeves, modest but pretty, with small pink flowers scattered across the light fabric.

She applied a little makeup, just enough to enhance her features—soft blush and a hint of lipstick.

When she was done, she examined herself in the mirror. It was a simple look, but it made her feel more confident, especially since today was an important day.

Just as she finished, she heard a knock at the door. Opening it, she found Xia Tian and the two children standing there, their eyes wide in admiration.

"Wow, Sister Yuqi! You look so pretty!" Xia Tian exclaimed, his eyes sparkling with honest admiration.
