I sit on the couch, smiling at Zach's family and friends. His parents house is full, even including outside. I just have been watching Zach's mechanisms. Side hugging I'm assuming people he isn't close with, and full on "bro-hugging" all of his loved ones. Everyone is so genuine and I couldn't love it any more. Zach's smile hasn't changed no matter who it is though. He needed this, he needed his "ole stomping ground" as he called it. I love it here. His family has been nothing short of amazing. The back door opening causes me to take my attention from Zach and see Jimmy and Cole, one of Zach's childhood friends, walk in with the tray of bbq, laughing about god knows what.I scan the room again, playing with the condensation that's dripping from my cup. My eyes meet Cheyanne's and she gives me a sly smile. I return it back and she continues her conversation with Zach's sister and her friend. The band has known each other forever, they were a band before I even knew who Zach was. My eyes keep scanning, meeting Zach's beautiful brown and blue eyes. He excuses himself from his company and makes his way to me.
"Hey baby" he smiles and sits next to me, pulling my head to him so he can plant a kiss on my head. He's not scared to prove I'm his and I'm honestly coming around to it. "What are you doing all by yourself?"
"Just observing. It's very overstimulating, so many people and trying to read everyone's energy." He stands and reaches his hand for me to grab. "Where are we going?"
"Just come. We can talk quieter." He says as he starts leading me outside. We reach outside and the cold Washington air hits me. It's crazy how cold it gets at night.
He walks to the barn, still swinging our hands back and forth. Quiet, but a comfortable silence."This is the infamous barn I assume?" I giggle as he turns the lights on. Lantern string lights cover the barn. The horses have blankets over each one of them, the chickens are perched on the gates.
"Awe a pig!" I gasp and walk up to it. It's laying under the heat lamp. I pet its snout and take the heat in myself.
"Out of all the animals, I thought you'd be scared of the pig the most." He giggles. "Here my love." He wraps his jacket around me as I'm still petting the pig. I didn't realize I was even shivering. My pullover and tights did not prepare me for the cold.
I thank him and stand up. I go to pet all the other animals in the barn. As I'm petting the horse, something rubs my leg, scaring me which scared the horse.
I look down and see a fluffy calico cat. I instantly reach down and start petting it.
"That's Ollie. He's an old baby." He kneels down and pets the cat that's absolutely loving the attention.
"Why isn't he inside? Poor baby, it's so cold out here." I pick him up and cover him with my jacket.
"I tried. He hated every second of it. He screamed until we opened the door to let him out. He ran straight back here when we did let him out. The pig is his best friend. He sleeps with him every night." He stands as he goes turn the radio on. Nothing short of ZT to have the radio on old country.
"When you say nothing at all" by Kieth Whitley comes on.
"Come on." Zach reaches his hand to help me stand up.
I let him and then he starts slow dancing with me. This damn boy here. The water works are absolutely falling. How can it not? He loves me and he makes it known. I'm in his childhood barn and I'm meeting his childhood animals.
"Why are you so emotional baby?" He giggles and wipes a tear that falls down my cheek.
"I love you, that's all. I love Washington, I love your parents, I love your siblings, I love Ollie, I love the band, I love everything that's attached to you." I smile and so does he.
