Zach's pov

"Kate Ann you look absolutely stunning tonight" my mom hugged Kate before she sat across from us.

Kate always looks stunning. Tonight she is wearing a sparkly long sleeve dress, her bump is evident but not enough for anyone to notice. The dark blue bringing out her hazel eyes and blonde highlights.

"Thank you Mrs. Wendy. You look amazing as always." Kate gave her a warm smile.

"You're such a doll. Happy birthday Zachary!" Mom looked at me and smiled, reaching for my hand across the table.

"Thank you mom. Is Laken going to make it?" I pulled my hand back and grabbed Kate Ann's, pulling it to my lap and playing with her nails.

"I'm not sure bub. You know how your sister is." She laughed and looked at her menu in front of her.

I looked around the table. Madi and her husband were laughing at something dad said, on the opposite end of the table. Pieter and his wife are scrolling on their phones. My grandparents are now talking to my mom and my band about god knows what. I smile. Im happy. I look at Kate to my right and she looks nervous. She's biting her lip and bouncing her leg. I squeeze her hand and her attention looks up at me.

I mouth 'I love you' and she does it back, leaning her head on my arm. I love her so much. She has helped me out of a dark place I didn't realize I was in. Now she's having my baby and has no doubts about doing so.

I grab my phone and go text Laken. She's always late to everything. Before I close my phone I flip to the camera and take a picture of Kate. She's still resting her head on my shoulder, but she is smiling at something my dad told her. She's so beautiful.

"I'm going run to the restroom." I whisper and excuse myself from the table.

As I walk to the bathroom my phone buzzes, telling me there's a text message. I open the message and it's from one of Kenzis friend.

Hey Zach. It's kenz on Livs phone. Happy birthday Z ◡̈ hope you're having a great day. I miss you so much. Would you want to get lunch when you're in town? Catch up? Hope all is well. Talk soon xoxo

I stare at the text. The audacity of this bitch. I laugh and shove my phone in my pocket. I don't have to respond, I owe her nothing.

I make it back to the table and find Kate's hand again, placing a kiss on her head.

"Lake!" Mom smiles, "you made it!"

I look at the direction mom is looking and see my sister walk in. She's all dressed and presentable thankfully.

"Sorry, work was crazy. Happy birthday baby brother! What are you now? 12?" Laken laughs and ruffles my hair.

"Thank you lake, at least you look presentable today." I laugh and kiss her cheek.

I scan the table and see Chey looking my direction. She's staring at Kate and smiling. She must feel my glance because she finds my eyes and smiles at me too. I grew up with Chey and Jimmy. They have become family and I wouldn't be anywhere without them. My family loves them and I can say I do myself.

"Are you ready?" I whisper in Kate's ear. She nods slightly, looking up at me. She's nervous. Especially about them realizing we were together a short time before she conceived. I tried telling her my family wouldn't care, they love her.

"So I was thinking." I blurt and everyone grows quiet. "Before I say what I have to say, I just wanted to thank yall for coming and celebrating my birthday with me. This has been the best birthday I've ever had."
